How busy in mid December?

I'm trying to weasel my way into a day at Universal Studios in December...:teeth: and wondering how busy I should expect it to be. We're (me, my 4yo, my sister--all of us have been to the Orlando parks before--and my 81yo mother--her first trip to Orlando) going to be at WDW for a week and I think my mother would really enjoy Universal Studios. I'm thinking about adding a day onto our trip, assuming we'd be able to do most of the park in a day. She would want to do most everything I would think, with the exception of Mummy and Back to the Future (but my sister and I would want to do Mummy).

Also, is the Lucille Ball exhibit still there? I know she would enjoy that a lot.

I would guess that we'd be there on a weekday and would more than likely be staying offsite unless I could get a good rate at one of the Universal hotels, so no magic room key.

Thanks, T&B

Hi, if you go by the UO calendar it looks like they begin extending their hours to 7 on the 11th and then til 8 on the 17th. The 17th is the last day of school for most kids and the beginning of the school holidays which, of course, means the big crowds at the parks. I'd try to get there before that date, especially if I was staying offsite.
I'm going early Dec. and although the parks will close at 6, past experience has taught me that the parks are empty at this time so you have little or no wait on everything...its great...

Enjoy your trip!

Thanks! We would be there the 13th, at the latest. We could even go one of the days that we were going to be at WDW and then extend our stay for the missed WDW day.

Does anyone have any idea how much more crowded it would be on Monday, Dec 13 (when the parks close at 7pm) vs a weekday the week before (when the parks close at 6pm)?

any idea on crowd levels after Dec. 17th? We're debating on whether to go on Saturday 12/18 or Monday 12/21. Any suggestions?

Thanks,
Michelle

Michelle, Hope i don't sound like a broken record but since the 18th is the first weekend of Christmas vacation it most likely will be crowded.... I think I'd go Saturday if i were you though since Sat is typically a travel day for those coming from out of state to begin their holidays. Hope this helps, just an educated guess though.

Thanks for the suggestions. I appreciate your insights very much.

Michelle
