How busy can IOA get in May?

I'm going to IOA for the very first time in just a few weeks and can't wait!

The one thing I just REALLY want to know is how bad it might be. It's for the day, Saturday May 12. I looked online and it said that crowds would be moderate, but I have heard that a lot of school trips go on during this month, so I'm wondering if that will be a problem. After all, we paid $112 for this and I'm waking up at 4:00am or earlier to get there (We're on a time schedule for this). I don't want it to be too bad.

So, how bad do you think it will be? Just wanted to know. I already know WWoHP will have crowds, but what about the rest of the park?

It shouldn't be too bad...crowd wise. You're right about the school trips but it doesn't look like anything special is going on that weekend. Just go and enjoy yourselves...don't worry about the crowds.

I don't think it will be too bad. We'll be there on May 12th too. (Staying onsite the 7th-13th).

This is our plan: The most popular rides will probably be busiest between 11am-4pm. Other than that we're expecting everything to be manageable. Two things that help us are eating at non peak times so we can enjoy the rides during peak dinner times when crowds thin a little, also the crowds thin out in the late evening. I would go to HP first thing in the morning and again in the evening. And remember some of the most enjoyable memories can be had at the "non headlining" rides. If one of the coasters are super busy go on to something else, you might be pleasantly surprised.
