Hello We're off to Disneyland for a second time, we went last year at the beginning of Dec 1st-4th and it was so quite, no q's on most things and the longest we waited was 10mins for big thunder mountain. Has anyone been later in December as I'd like to know how busy it's going to be. I'm expecting it to be busier but hopefully not as bad as christmas week itself. Any advice please?

We stayed from Dec 22nd to Dec 28th Last year.

The park was comfortable from the 23rd to the 27th but before and after were busy. In fact we stayed for 20 mins on the 28th and had to leave - it felt full to capacity with day trippers, locals and people staying at the hotels on and off site.

Christmas Day was fantastic - we queued for a max of 10 mins for the busiest rides and walked straight on for most rides and shows.

my only advice is to plan your days before you go and take advantage of the quieter times (early morning and early eveings).

You will have a magical time - just be prepared.

I spoke to a woman at the shops 2day and she told me she had 2 q for an hour 2 get on the flying elephants christmas day last year 2005. I know we will have a great time whatever and I am planning to be super organised, so we can get the most out of our trip. Has anyone done the half board meal tickets thing does it save money? We do like to have a nice meal in the evening Blue Lagoon, Plaza Gardens, Walt's ect.

Welcome to the DIS childminderjanet

It will probably be very busy the first two days of your trip - weekends always are. But then you can look forward to less crowds after that. I've heard that it does get progressively busier through December, but it won't be anything like the days around Christmas itself and New Year.

We went at a similar time four years ago, and didn't find it too busy at all. We weren't particularly speedy at getting out in the mornings, but still managed to pick up FastPasses for Big Thunder Mountain for around lunchtime.

Dumbo is always very popular, but also quite a slow loader - so often takes a while even on slow days. If you really want to go round and round, the Magic Carpets in the Studios are usually much quicker to get on!! :)

Hi childminderjanet, welcome to the DIS! :welcome:

You will love all the decorations, DLRP is so beautiful at Christmastime!

we went similar dates last December (15th-19th) and it was very busy and there was very long queues for almost everything. if you have young children get to fantasyland as soon as it opens as be noon it is really busy.
The park just got busier as it got nearer to christmas.
Cafe Mickey was full at lunch time, both floors which is something we have never seen at that time of the day.

Aww Thanks everyone :sunny:

Luckily my daughter 5yrs isn't that fussed about the little rides, the faster the better for her, but what we all loved about DLP was just being there soaking up all that Disney magic. What's funny is that I wasn't a big Disney fan before we went now we will definately be going every year :cheer2: .
I think I'm just a bit worried that after having such a a fantastic trip last christmas when it was lovely and quite, that we might be dissapointed if we have to Q for hours to get on anything.
I'd love to hear about anyone else's experiences.
Thanks again
Janet xx

Hi Janet from another Janet

Just thought I'd say hi as we're going the week before you and leave on the 15th! I'm the same as you hoping it's not too busy as I know my girls like to go on things "again Mummy!"

As for finding things the faster the better you've obviously got better breeding stock than me. With mine it will be the slowest and quietest! :rotfl:

Have a wonderful time & I'll tell Mickey to expect you!

Janet

Hello Janet :dance3: are you Yorkshire born and bred? I'm originally from Blackpool Lancashire but now living in Petts wood in Kent, so very convienient 4 jumping on Eurostar at Waterloo. Be thankfull you're little ones like the tame rides enjoy it while it lasts. Luckily I spent many hours as a teenager in training for wild rides on the Blackpool Pleasure Beach so I'm just about able to keep up with DD at the moment, she's not tall enough 4 some of the rollercoasters but she loves the vampire at chessington world of adventures. I probably have some more questions for you I'll post when I think of them.
Have a fantastic time it really is excellent memory making stuff
bye for now

I am so glad to hear that it is so quiet at the beginning of Decemeber. We are going from the 3rd and have been wondering what it would be like.
