How boring are we? Let's count the ways... (Used SAP points for home resort)

We've spent a couple months tossing around where we'd want to book our very first SAP night on our recently added BWV resale, bought specifically for SAP. Because we didn't think we'd like BWV all that much...

After months of maybe-here, maybe-there for that single night (OKW, SSR, RIV on some of our direct points, BLT), we booked arrival night at BWV, of course. That's how boring and predictable we are, trying our new home resort first.

Looks like Riviera, the recent top contender, will have to wait to host us. Which is funny-sorta, because we bought the BWV points thinking, "Oh! The many OTHER places we'll stay!"

Anyway, we'll be at BWV in a BoardWalk-overlook villa on arrival night next May (pretty exciting, actually!) and then move over to our original VGF home for the rest of that week.

This sort of boring is very easy to tolerate. <sly wink and grin>

If you recently bought BWV resale you cannot use those points to book RIV. Just FYI.

Yes, thanks, we're aware of that, which is why I said we were considering "RIV on some of our direct points."

We have two direct VGF contracts so would have had MS apply those points to RIV at 7 mos. if available. It'd only be a single night, so 7-mo. availability likely wouldn't be difficult. And if we decide to try there in future, we'll just book somewhere else if no RIV.

Me as well! That location (BWV) is perfect for so many reasons.
I can't wrap my head around BWV as SAP points.
Huh? Why not?

We are huge VGF fans otherwise and decided BWV's location suited us better for single nights or as a placeholder than SSR/OKW, more obvious choices.

Thus, a small BWV contract primarily for SAP but with the location fallback since we love the Tratt.

I think we define SAP differently. You bought BWV to stay at BWV. I think of SAP as points to use somewhere other than home resort.

The resort points that I am willing to use elsewhere are VB and SSR and sadly now AKV. We need two ECVs now and even our beloved VWL points are all potential SAP because of necessity of busses. Our ECV’s often find full busses.

HHI are not SAP, and we have enough Vero points to stay there when we want.

I guess my confusion stems from my understanding of buying the cheapest points possible with the intent of using them somewhere else at 7 months and as you pointed out that would be OKW/SSR but I guess if you’re buying them with the intent of using them at VGF and the occasional BWV stay, BWV is definitely cheaper than GFV.

I think you both overlooked my saying initially that we're boring because we booked BWV on a BWV contract we thought we'd use everywhere at WDW but there. (HH, VB and Aulani aren't workable for us.)

Use BWV as a placeholder-fallback, yes, in case we couldn't find 7-mos. availability anywhere else we'd rather stay = SAP points to us. (Maybe we don't correctly understand what SAP points means?)

Instead, we decided we'd like to see what we think of BWV before SAPing others so booked it as our intended arrival night stay. We don't plan to do that consistently and may never stay again at BWV.

Granted, Pooh12863, there are cheaper points resorts. However, SSR has higher dues than VGF, OKW much higher ones. We rejected both for fallback stays because of location and transportation. BWV works much better for us on both factors even though its dues are higher than SSR's.

For us, location, transportation options and dues fairly close to VGF's were more important than price-per-point. Not the more common criteria for an add-on, I agree.

I think we all just misunderstood your original statement, no harm, no foul. :) Careful though , just bouncing in the back of Epcot at a moments notice can become addictive. LOL

Needing a duo of ECVs does complicate resort choices rather much at WDW because of the bus-only resorts.

You don't care for the MK-WL boat? We very much prefer boat to MK to monorail even though the bus from WL would be faster.

DH uses a powerchair at WDW due to being unable to walk long distances. Should I eventually need one myself, we'll possibly be rethinking going to WDW, since we both prefer driving so that he can haul his powerchair. He's also a TSA sideshow because of having metal in both legs. Very much easier to drive--so far.

Needing to rent an ECV for me would complicate our going to resorts with our car solely to eat. Easy enough with only one and a car with lift plus that lovely free valet parking.

Careful though , just bouncing in the back of Epcot at a moments notice can become addictive. LOL

True enough for WS addicts like us. Yes, been there, represent that fer sure. :-) Some of the best eats at WDW are in WS.

@Her Dotness …once because of tides, it was a terrible struggle to get the ECV on to the large boat at the MK dock. I was grateful for all the help, but I wouldn’t want it to happen again. I was embarrassed.

Ahhh, understood.

DH is accustomed to bumping his chair up over a gap that would make me quake in my booties. He's had the chair for several years and knows pretty accurately what it can handle so seems fearless to me.

Thankfully when he once got a front wheel solidly wedged in the trolley track at MK and couldn't budge it, two guys the size of pro linebackers stepped up, saying, "Oh, we can get you out of that." They picked up DH and chair (240 lbs. his, more the chair's) and tidily set them on solid pavement. Wouldn't take anything for it but our gratitude. That was some precious Disney magic!
