How big of an advantage is having a single UY for all contracts?

I have seriously considered buying additional contracts with UYs different from my June use year. I have resisted the temptation because I was afraid that I would be unable to deal with multiple use years and would leave some points unused.

Am I being smart or too careful?

Depends on how many contracts you are talking about, and how you want to use them.

For us, we have two contracts of about equal number of points with different resorts and UY's. We bank one contract each year and borrow from the other so we can make full reservations using the 11 month booking window.

We have no problem keeping track of the points, banking deadlines, etc.

Of course, we (I) keep very much up to speed with DVC so managing two UYs is not much of a challenge. If you only visit the topic of DVC when it's time to take a vacation, then it could potentially be a bit more of a challenge.

But if you can keep all your contracts with one UY, that would be great. I just wouldn't pass up the ideal resale contract because of UY. But that's just me....YMMV. :)

We have 4 different master contracts, with 4 different Use Years at 2 resorts and have not had any problem keeping everything organized.

Caskbill's DVC Tracker can really help manage those contracts and keep track of banking deadlines, etc.

I would not shy away from a contract just because it has a different Use Year.

Good luck with your decision! :)
