how big is SSR really?

Seemed to me that there were about 20 parking spaces at the check in area. I have never been unable to find a spot.

Seems to me that the size of SSR has been greatly exaggerated...you will be fine.

I agree. People who walk miles and miles from their car to the park entrance, and then for hours and hours in the park, get all bent out of shape about a quarter-mile walk to the Carriage House.

Seriously, has ANYONE on these boards ever stayed at CSR or POR?????? Now that's walking! I suppose if someone weighs 400lbs and/or needs oxygen, it might not be the best place. But if you're in any kind of shape, c'mon, its Disney, you're gonna do some walkin'.....

I was just riding the wave and having some fun, Annie. I'm sorry.

I stayed at SSR in Dec. and while I didn't walk the whole thing, I'd be forced to guess about 60 acres give or take. I'm judging it against the size of my farm so I'm just guessing but I'd guess I'm pretty close (NOT counting the golf course). I also haven't included THV because I really never saw that piece so I never saw where that joined the resort.

The whole thing might be 100 acres with the golf course, THV and the general SSR area but I doubt it. That's a HUGE chunk of land and I just don't think it's actually that big.

Here's my only gripes on SSR: No place to eat and busses and car traffic EVERYWHERE. You can't even look out a window or walk without seeing or hearing busses and most of the roadways outside the center area have no sidewalks.

I thought SSR was beautiful but I had never stayed anywhere but a moderate before December so my standard was pretty mediocre at best. I will tell you this. I will NEVER be disappointed to stay there if nothing else is available. It's different but still beautiful in a different sort of way if you know what I mean.

Oh. BTW, parking is RIDICILOUS at check-in. I wasn't counting the 12 parking spaces full of resort vehicles and DVC vans that noone else could use. For the size of the resort, it was insane. I'd bet all the moderates average 200 parking places at center court. UNBELIEVABLE (and unacceptable)!

I have been heard to say while walking from Congress Park to the Lobby:

"No, no. You gotta go on without me, Commander. Just leave me some ammo, a little water, some chips if you have them"

Seriously, it doesn't seem to me to be that big, and, if you use the bus system right, it can be down right small. The walk over to DTD wasn't that bad either.
