How bad really are the shuttle rides from Port Orleans Riverside?

I'm planning a WDW trip in 2027. It will be my second time since 2017. In 2027, if my then 21 year old comes, we'll probably stay at PO Riverside in a room that fits 5. Back in 2017,we were a family of 4 who stayed at Sports. I've never stayed at Riverside, but I'm not sure I'm crazy about the shuttle bus going around multiple locations to pick people up before heading to the parks. When it stops at the first stop, about how long does it take to go to all the pick up locations before heading out?

We find the bus service at Riverside to be good. A lot depends on the crowds waiting for the bus and whether they need to load an ECV. The first stop is the West depot. It only takes about 5 to 10 minutes or more to go around all the stops if there aren't any ECV's waiting to load. The last stop is at the South (main) building before it goes straight to the parks from there. Sometimes a park bus will be full when it arrives at the South depot first thing in the morning and you have to wait for the next bus. But in general, it isn't too bad. We've had longer waits at deluxe resorts, when there is only one bus stop.

The key is to watch the bus times that are listed in the MDE app. That will let you know when the next bus is due.

POR buses are not bad. I really like the little quiet paths to get out to the stops. It's an easy walk to the pool, QS and main check-in area. CBR was bad. It's too spread out and the bus takes forever, plus it can be a long walk to the main theme pool and the QS/lobby area, meaning you also have to take the internal CBR bus. We lasted all of a couple of hours before we were on the phone moving to a different resort (ended up at AoA and loved that too).

You could also get two rooms at sports for about the same price. Then everyone has a real bed instead of the small sleeper and that gives you a second bathroom.

I agree with you completely. We have stayed at CSR, which is huge also, and the buses were just "ok" for a big resort.
We have stayed at POR many times and have never had a problem with the buses. They have plenty that run continuously, or at least they did before covid in 2029. I would pick POR over CSR or CBR anytime.
