How bad is the pizza at WDW?

Okay, now I am what some would refer to as a "pizza snob". I don't mean to brag and sound like a snob, but I come from Brooklyn, NY and we have some of the best pizza in the world here! So I have extremely high standards for what I would call good pizza. How good or bad is the pizza at Disney World? Is it consistent, meaning the same in all the parks and resorts? Is there any one place where it is better than another? We are going to all 4 parks. I know the CS food choices are limited at Animal Kingdom, and one choice is Pizzafari. I am just wondering how it really is, for someone like me who expects pizza to taste a certain way. To give a better example, I can't stand Papa John's or Domino's, but I can eat Pizza Hut pizza (pan pizza only, don't know why). I do like Pizzeria Uno, but have only had it in NYC and the D.C. area. But I know that restaurant started in Chicago, another place where people take pride in their pizza and know how to make it.

What's the verdict? Should I completely avoid the pizza at WDW? I know DS would be fine with it, and possibly DH. But me, I just don't know!

well I have only had it at the boardwalk but knowing you come from NY and I have had their pizza I would say skip it. :lmao:

aaaaahh I'm with you here! From Long Island, I visit the city once in a while, and can't go a visit without Pizza. It's the best. When I visit my Grandpa in Connecticut, he brings me to The Bronx for some of the best pizza ever. I mean it.

As for Disney, I remember one year, we were at the Swan and Dolphin, and my DM and DS were both sick. My Dad and I were fine. We couldn't go out that night, so me and my Dad went to the Spoodles Pizza window at the boardwalk to get some Pizza.

We brought it back to the hotel and personally, I liked it. It was nothing like Pizza from NY, I'll tell you that, but you can only get NY pizza in NY.

As for my Mom and my Sister, they really didn't like it as much as I did. I don't know why, but me and my Dad liked it a lot.

Hope I helped!

I have only had pizza at our resort and it was nothing to speak of. I would guess, unless there is a real speciality restaurant, that you won't find the taste you are looking for. Good luck!

Personally, I believe NY has some of the best pizza because we have the cleanest water.

Nobody ever considers how clean our water is - some of the cleanest in the country.

All that dough is made with plenty of water.

I am from Long Island so I know what you mean.....
The hotel delivery pizza was a 'pie' like you would order from a local shop in NY, and not good. Like most not-good pizza that is not from NY (sorry to non-Nyers, but we have the best pizza and bagels here!). I never had the Boardwalk pizza.

Toy Story Pizza Planet is like individual pan pizza's from pizza hut. I don't like, but I think they are pretty similar. Not trying to be 'real' pizza, iykwim? I think most individual CS pizzas at WDW are like this.

HTH

I'm from Chicago and can't stand when we go out of town and go to a "pizza place" and it not even close. How can they mess up pizza????:confused3
Not a fan of WDW pizza. It reminds me of Domino's :crazy2:

I think you should avoid the pizza! My kids will eat it, but not me. I guess I'm a pizza snob too!

Skip the pizza and get something else...cardboard with sauce and some processed cheese does not a pizza make

I will tell you what...we are from Buffalo, New York......pretty darn good pizza! One word of advice .....steer clear of WDW pizza...that is unless you like cardboard covered in tomato sauce!!!

Italian from NY here... I agree, skip the pizza.... and while your at it, you should skip Mama Melrose and Tony's too :sad2:

You can live without out it for a week... Just remember you will have something to look forward to when you get home.... We hate leaving Disney World but it is always great to come home to good pizza and pasta!

Yes, a huge part of it is the water! I also avoid bagels when I am on vacation, except on a cruise where I have found they are good. I do remember years ago in Florida I hated the bagels!

I think another huge factor in the NY pizza thing is the sauce. Being a NY Italian, I also know my sauce, and here it is actually SAUCE. I mean hearty stuck to your ribs sauce, not some red water out of a jar.

I was planning to avoid any "Italian" food at WDW. I am not eating in Italy at Epcot, but going to Tony's or Mama Melrose either. I know I am sure to be disappointed.

Hmm...cardboard with sauce and processed cheese? I'll skip it!

Is there anything else I can order if we end up at Pizzafari that is decent? A big salad maybe with chicken in it?

Thanks again,
Bonnie

AMEN!!!!

I'm from Wisconsin and hate the pizza there. Even compared to my frozen Jack's or Tombstone's I get for the kids - it's GROSS!!!

There is one pizza i can recomend but you need to order it way in advance and they deliver Giordano's. They make a true chicago style pizza that takes for ever to bake. You can go to there website for more info.

I'm from England, where we don't get great pizzas, but got to agree about the WDW ones, not good at all - they are better than the Disneyland Paris ones tho, which tells you something about THEIR quality :goodvibes

There's a sandwich with italian meats and ceaser salad on it at Pizzafari. :)

Anyways, yes since you're from NY, I say skip it.

Me, being from the middle of the US thinks WDW is just fine. But I'd probably change my mind if I ever visited NY or Chicago.

i too am from chicago, and won't eat pizza ANYWHERE but here, as we have the best :snooty: to the op if your are a true pizza snob, steer clear of the pizza at the world! :scared1:

Well, I guess that I think that if you like pizza hut pan pizza then you will like the individual pizza at pizzafari. Also we like the pizzas cooked in the fired oven at Mama Melrose at MGM or HS as they now call it. Those are thinner crust but are really good to us. Usually we are really hungry from all of the walking and having a great time with our kids and that makes everything taste even better. Have a great trip!

We know good pizza here too and I would definitely recommend the pizzas at Tony's and Mama Melrose:worship: They make my list every year!

I'd stay away from the pizz as well. I'm from right outside NYC and I'd eat it in order to have food- but not to have pizza (does that make sense). That being said- if you like playing around with California type pizza, California Grill and WP have some great flatbread type pizza/s.
