How bad is a non-preferred room at All Star Music?

I'm thinking with my next trip to WDW in June of 2019, staying at All Star Music isn't a bad choice. I stayed at Sports last June and did take a walk over to Music one day and liked the scenery there. I remember how spread out it was. After a long day at the parks, is it really tiresome to walk to a far room? We *might* stay at French Quarter, who knows. The trip probably won't be more than 7 days.

I have only stayed at Music for one night. I was in a non-preferred room and I think I was in one of the buildings in the far back of the resort. The plus I was close to the parking area where I parked my car. The con was I was a good little hike from the bus stop and the front desk/food court.

I would stay there again but get a preferred room.

I have stayed at French Quarter in the past too. It is one of my favorites. It is small and you aren’t a long walk from anything.

I've stayed at ASMusic my whole life with a few exceptions. While the landscape is nice, it will be a hike to the main building and bus stops. If you stay at ASSports, you will walk less if you get a non-preferred room to the main building/bus stops.

I stayed at All Star Sports last June and loved it. But with WDW having so many resorts, I want to try something new every time I go.

I can't quite remember, but I believe ASMovies has the same layout as Sports. Truthfully, I didn't mind the hike from Music non-preferred rooms, but I know a lot do. It will add an extra 5-10 minutes to your day.

We had a non preferred room at Music for a night in December. Stayed in the Broadway section. Walk wasn't bad at all really (even after walking 9 miles at Disney Springs).

I stayed there for my first half marathon. Got put in Country in about the furthest back building and on the 3rd floor and was fine. Even after run/walking 13.1 miles and then all around the parks.

ASMu is laid out different than all the other values with the main hub at one end, standard at other. I never pay for preferred but if I ever stay there again I would pay for it there. Not only is it a long walk but it's more isolated and at night very dark.

We stayed in the Broadway section and even after being in the parks all day we didn't find the little bit of extra walking to be too bad. It wouldn't be worth it to spend extra money on a preferred room for us. But I thought it was close enough. Maybe added an extra five minutes of walking. Closer might be nicer, but it wasn't something that bothered us in the least bit. And I kind of liked being tucked back away from the hustle and bustle.

I decided the next time I want to stay in a standard room and take advantage of All-Star Music, I'll stay in the Mighty Ducks section at All-Star Movies instead.

That Movies section is more convenient to the All-Star Music main building and buses than the standard room I had in the Broadway section.
