How bad are the AS w/ cheerleaders there?

oh man, and here i was hoping for a nice peaceful vacation and not having to punch a cheerleader in the face. just kidding!!!! i haven't stayed in the All Star resorts in over 10 years and we are staying in Music 1/29-2/3. I'm not going to be amused if there is Rah Rah going on while we are there. I did go on that varsity website and the Feb 1-3 dates that are listed, once you click on it, it changes to January dates in Texas.... Fingers crossed!!!

Wow! (Since you are expecting the flaming....) I can see that you have never trained for these types of athletics....they can be brutal! The assumption that girls (and guys, too) join these squads for attention, to look cute, etc.... really bugs me! For 7 years I did it for the love of competition, FINALLY pulling off that impossible stunt, and so on. Now as a parent, I can totally understand the disdain for these groups, but NOT because they are cheer squads, for I've seen church groups with far worse behavior! Just depends on the group of kids, regardless of their activity. We were down during some of the competitions last March, and we had nothing but polite girls at Pop. And my DS7 was totally enamored with the glittery teenage girls.....

I know its difficult, I was an athlete in both high school and college (soccer) so I'm fully aware of the demands of competing/practicing at that level. I'm not making an assumption regarding why people join cheer squads, its partially true. Its a sport as well as a lifestyle. Anyone who has ever been around cheerleaders or been one themself knows this, even though they might deny it. Like I said before, I fully realize the demands and know its not a simple thing, tumbling and gymnastics in general take great skill. Not once when I played soccer in school did I go to the mall or even a theme park and decide to kick a ball around. There is a time and place for everything. A hotel room at WDW at midnight is NOT the time to start a pep rally.
