How bad are bugs at the Fort in February

Going the first week of February, how bad are mosquitos and such in the fort at that time? Never camped in Florida before and not sure how much repellent and such I will need.

We went the last of Feb, first of March last year and I didn't notice them. We didn't use repellents and did not get bitten either. Was actually surprised.

Overall, the bugs are less at the Fort than I am used to, camping in the Midwest. I would bring some mosquito repellent, just in case, but I don't remember ever needing it. I typically go in the summer months.

Obviously it won't work for you as you are flying in, but I keep a can of Bug Spray in our camper just in case (as you never know)

I also keep a can in my truck as I never know where my kids end up with their activities (i.e. cheerleading practice in the fields where the bugs are plenty and biting.)

I do know you can have some issues with getting bug sprays through airports. They really don't like aerosols and of course liquids are always a challenge as in getting any quantity through security (carry on) or getting it to not leak (checked), but you can get wipes too to keep just in case. They don't take up much space (or weight) and that way you can have them at the ready.

You can also buy repellant there at the Meadows & Trading Post (small stores at campground) if you need it. Two of our Jan trips lapped over into February and we have never needed it and do spend a great deal of time there at our site.

Over the years we have camped in just about every month at FW and have 'never' had issues with any biting insects/bugs, in fact don't even remember even seeing any with the exception being around the lights at night down by the boat dock.

We tent camped in Fort Wilderness in mid-March of last year and had no issues with mosquitos (& I'm a mosquito magnet). I didn't use any repellent for health reasons. No bug issues at all. I imagine that Disney is vigilant about preventing standing water, etc. for it to be so relatively mosquito-free. We were there for five nights and never smelled anything like repellent while at the Fort. If I were you I wouldn't bother bringing any repellant via your flight. In the unlikely event that you encountered a problem at the Fort, you can then buy repellant at one of the Fort's 2 general stores. Enjoy your stay at the world's funnest campsite!

Can't tell you that for a fact, but somehow 'magic' or whatever, seems the bugs must get the message! Does seem like an oxymoron, doesn't it - FL (FW) and 'no' bugs???? Growing up in the deep south, we 'do' have our share of insects/bugs in any other area!!

Disney is a No Fly zone, maybe that has something to do with the lack of flying bugs.

Jon Paul, they do drive a spray truck at the Fort from time to time. I have been there when they have done it. The time of year you will be there bugs should be minimal.

During the warm wet months there are bugs. But up through about April it is minimal IMO.

I think I'm just going to go for the anti bug options and just break down at by it onsite if I have to. Are things at the two stores in the fort reasonably tourist priced or super price gauged?

Have camped at the Fort a number of times throughout the year. We occasionally noticed mosquitos near the boat dock, but never a real issue on the campsites, However, two weeks ago we were plagued by them on our site. Be prepared.
When we travel we pack the pre-moistened repellent towelettes. Cutters makes one, along with others. They are light and pack well. We've purchased them in Walmart and I'm sure they are more reasonable than whatever the Trading Post offers.

Figured I would just ask this here instead of doing a new thread, if I bring some Clear Christmas lights to act as lighting at night time would that be ok? It be much easier for me to pack flying than bringing a lantern or two and much more effective given the electric situation.

Oh absolutely! I string strings of small indoor/outdoor Christmas white LED lights along my EZ up awning for nighttime light. We have some tent campers on here who also string similar types INSIDE their tent for interior illumination.
