public speaking ?

oddly enough Im kind of good, and that's weird cause im in conversation with 3-4 people I dont know I have a greater chance of wetting myself then adding anything to the conversation :rotfl:

Horrible. My voice starts to quiver, I keep licking my lips and I end up sounded like something is wrong with me:rotfl:

I hate public speaking. My palms get sweaty and I get very nervous. For some reason, I am afraid of getting tongue-tied. I also used to hate calling radio stations for a contest and then having the call aired. I didn't hate it enough to stop doing it, but it made me nervous.

I am fine talking to a small group of people and can communicate very well, but don't put me in front of a crowd. I do not like attention. It must be the introvert in me.

People say I am good at it, and I keep getting asked to do it. I worked in radio early in my career (39 years ago), but the last 35 years I have been behind the scenes writing words for other people to read.
The keys to public speaking......speak loudly, slowly and clearly. Keep it simple and keep it short.

I totally fall apart. My best friend was with me at a town meeting where I was to speak on behalf of my neighborhood. Just before I was called to the microphone, I told my best friend I'd give her an insane amount of money if she'd speak for me. I overloaded my mouth and had to pay up. Friend strutted right up to the mic like she owned it. DH was really ticked when I had to break out the check book! Will NEVER get myself into a spot like that again.

No biggie to me. I always figure that I'm standing in front of crowd who are grateful they aren't the ones speaking in front of everybody. I'm grateful I'm not bored to death by one of them;)

Thinking about it makes me nervous but once I get up there...no problems.

:rotfl:, how much ?

I've always been very good at it, although Mrs. Tex says that I have a tendency to miss good opportunities to stop talking. :mic:

Stone cold sober? Terrible.

After a couple adult beverages? Much, much better.

After a couple more? Ehhh, I let a four-letter word or two slip, but still a lot more entertaining than sober.

After a pretty fair amount of drinking? I'll probably just end up flirting with the entire audience & telling dirty jokes.

I do it several hours a day for a living. I still sometimes feel jittery though if it's a quiet crowd or new material.

wow, Im sitting by you next time you have to speak publicly `1:rotfl:

Won't do you a lick of good. Never putting myself on the line again. Lesson learned! Oh, but you can sit by me. We can talk trash and disturb all the others. :lmao:
