How are the beds now at OKW??

I stopped staying at my favorite resort because of the beds, which where switched out to new, concrete slab rock-hard beds about three -- or five-- years ago.

Are the beds better now with the refurb? If not, I'm going to change my upcoming reservation at OKW to ANYTHING else.....

Last summer I thought they were excellent. But I thought they were excellent most of our stays there in the past 13 years (except the first year, it sagged in the middle badly).

We stayed at OKW in November, and the beds all had very comfortable mattresses and box springs, no concrete slabs! I found them as comfortable as the beds we had at BLT in August.

My husband and I are at OKW now in a studio. The beds and pillows are very comfortable. My husband actually wondered what brand they are because they are so nice.

We just stayed at OKW and found the beds to be hard and uncomfortable, which actually surprised us since we are used to good beds at other resorts. The night before going to OKW, we were at BLT and found those beds to be very comfortable and relaxing. Big contrast.

However, maybe our OKW villa didn't have all the upgrades as I did notice all the appliances were in bad need of repair.

We also just got back from a week stay at OKW in a refurbed room. We sleep on an extra firm mattress at home, but found the bed at OKW to be very hard and uncomfortable. We both woke up with sore backs and felt restless most nights. I'm so glad to be home to my own bed now! We have stayed in most of the other DVC locations and have never had a problem with an uncomfortable bed before. JMHO. We still had a great trip and enjoyed the resort otherwise:).

We were there over Christmas and thought the beds were a bit hard...not too bad, but my DD-12 even mentioned it. We were not sore or anything...it just wasn't as easy to get comfortable at night (luckily we were so exhausted by the time our heads hit our pillow that we still could fall asleep).

All the renovations were completed months ago. Did you report the appliance problems to maintenance?

Just returned last last night from 11 days at OKW in a 1 bedroom, and the beds are hard. The main bed and the sofa bed are hard.

We like our mattresses a bit more soft, but all 4 of us complained about the way the mattresses felt. We all had a difficulty sleeping this entire trip...

We had a 1 bedroom in March, and can't remember if the mattress was that uncomfortable then?

I was afraid of this!

Did everyone with the hard beds complain to member services??

You can't really complain about this, as it's very personal in nature. What is hard to you, isn't hard to me. We just purchased a new mattress at home, and it was a very challenging shopping trip!

As I said above, hubby, kids and myself all like soft mattresses and soft pillows, but according to the mattress salesperson, we are not of the norm. Many people prefer hard, as in very hard, so perhaps that is the type of mattress that is at OKW? Nothing we can do about it though, IMHO.

If the beds were lumpy, ripped or broken, then we could complain, because that would be damage to the bed.

But the feel of the mattress in terms of a sleeping preference, is very personal in nature, so what exactly is DVC going to do about that?

Tiger :)

To some extent I'd agree...except for when I called, they told me they were hearing this multiple times; it was becoming a very common complaint there. I've actually never seen another thread about uncomfortable beds in DVC other than the MULTIPLE treads about OKW beds being too hard.

The new resorts have pillow top beds ; OKW patrons deserve no less. If they insist on having rock hard beds for the 1 percent that like them, then they should have plenty of tempuredic style toppers to make the beds bearable for the rest of us.
