How are people wearing their veils? Over the face or behind the head?

you are probably right! but we didn't have a traditional ceremony and I wouldn't have wanted the veil over my face for that long anyway...but that's just me!

I also have a cathedral and elbow length veil... I thought about putting it over my face, but then I realized that's a VERY old tradition. The reason women had to cover their face was because they were essentially "sold" to their husbands (dowry) and they were considered property. Since the father had already "paid" for his daughter to married off, her face was covered so the groom couldn't see her face until after the ceremony, in case he saw her and wanted to change his mind because she was ugly... :confused3 Interesting... after reading about that and the fact that my DF and I have been together for 12 1/2 years already... I didn't think it was necessary... besides, I really like the way they look on my back and I am a bit of a perfectionist as well, so I wouldn't want my dad to put it over my head and not smooth it out. :goodvibes

But I have seen it done and it is beautiful. It really comes down to personal preference!! :Pinkbounc

im wearing a veil in the back. Im not a big fan of the blushers..on me anyways...I think having something in my face throughout the ceremony would bother me! It is beautiful, but im just going with the veil in the back!

I am wearing my fingertip veil in the back. I know if I wore it over my face I would keep messing with the whole time! lol
