How are deluxe plan credits tracked?

I'm debated whether to switch to the deluxe plan or just stick with the basic but had a quick question. Since you can use deluxe credits for either TS or CS meals, how are they tracked for you? Are they just grouped together or separated by adults and kids? I'm wondering because where CS's are concerned we might not be using our four per meal each time, it would depend on how hungry the kids are.
