We will be going to Disney for our 4th family trip. This will also be the first time we travel with our 17 month old. We have never been near Christmas time. :santa: How is the weather at this time? What type of clothing will the children need? Any advice would be great. Thanks

Weather at that time of year in Florida is very unpredictable. It may be in the low 30s over night, but get into the mid 70s during the day. You really need to be able to layer. Plan on wearing a jacket in the morning that you can remove and put in a locker once it begins to warm up. You will need a jacket at night, especially if you are near the water.

Also, be aware that this is the single most crowded week of the year. Crowds that week can make a high attendance summer day seem like you have the park to yourself. Make sure you do your homework in advance and have a good plan!

It can get down-right chilly! I went with my cousin and her friends, decades ago, during Christmas vacation, packed shorts, t-shirts and two pairs of pants. It was in the high 50's during the day, and down to the low 40's at night. I had to buy a sweatshirt and wore pants every day. :santa:

Thanks for the information. That is exactly what I was looking for. I heard the crowds were aweful. We usually go to Disney during spring time or summer. This is the first during winter. I am really concerned that it will be our first vacation with our young baby. I am usually a nut when I hit the parks. I want to see and ride everything. I am non-stop and so far my husband and daughters have been able to keep up with me. I just have to prepare myself and remember this trip is for the baby. We just might not be able to experience everything again. We are going to make a list of the most important things and make sure we get to those. Thanks again for the quick replys

It can get very cold at night during Dec. and also be warm during the day its kinda topsy-turvy. You should bring some jackets, long pants, and long sleeve shirts.

Just be prepared that at this time of year the people will be shoulder to shoulder, it will be a royal pain pushing a stroller and the little one in the stroller will be seeing a lot of legs! We went over Easter which is crowded but less than Christmas, and while we did go on everything it involved a lot of 12-14 hr days to accomplish this and it did start to get on me a bit that there never was an area anywhere without people in it, everywhere you looked wall to wall people. Waiting 2-3 monorails just to get on to stand! I would not have wanted to be dealing with a stroller. I understand people go when they can but it will be hard to have a trip concentrating on the baby when it isn't a baby friendly time of year. Just don't be disappointed.

I guess that's what I was trying to say. During that particular week of the year, it's possible that getting on all the rides won't even be a big concern because just fighting your way down Main Street through the literal sea of people will take so much effort. My main advice for anyone going that time of year would be to hit the parks at the very moment they open and plan to do a few favorite rides, then plan on clearing out as the crushing crowds build. Honestly, I'd plan on doing lots of non-park things - enjoying the different resorts all decked out for the holidays, character meals outside the parks, etc. Those sorts of things will allow you to catch your breath and sort of escape the throngs for a bit. You can still have a great time, but, honestly, you need to be mentally prepared. My main memory of our last trip that time of year was being stuck in a sea of unmoving people in the middle of Frontierland. There just wasn't anywhere for anyone to go!
