How accurate are the wait times on the My Disney App?

I have been looking at wait times for MK to gauge how bad the lines will be when we go in 2 weeks, but they seem rather short for this time of year. Anybody have feedback on how accurate the app is?

MDE is the official app of WDW and the wait times in the app are direct from Disney's system. They should match the posted wait time at the attraction.

I am sure that many people will have many different experiences and here is my most recent....

Myself and son visited in 2nd week of June this year. We used both MDE and Touring Plans apps. I will say for our trip both apps were pretty close in time and I will say from what I saw there close in actual time too. There were a few issues but never anything major.

It seems FP+ has changed the 'normal' wait times. Some are higher that they were a year ago and some are lower.

We found the times to be pretty accurate. I never remember waiting much longer than the app said and on several occasions the wait was shorter than suggested.

Thanks for the posts! I hope this means the lines won't be as bad as I think they will be!

We go in a few weeks and I have been checking the app and wondering if it was accurate. Glad to know that it was, thanks for the info!

I've been checking wait times too. They seem really low for this time of year. But sometimes I check it and there are no wait times listed at all. Does that mean their system is down or is it my phone?

We were just there last week (4th of July week) and used the MDE wait lines several times. Each time, it was very accurate. For the heck of it, we were actually at the Dinosaur ride right when it announced mechanical issues, so I logged into MDE and sure enough it said Dinosaur was closed at the moment, so it seems to be instantaneous.

I personally think FP+ has greatly helped the lines overall. People are scattered all over now - whereas in the past people flocked to the most popular rides. I know this means sometimes longer stand-by lines for the not-so-popular rides, but I think it makes for better overall experiences being that people are more spread out.
