Is it just me or have there been many more housekeeping issues this year then in the past at the Disney resorts? Have they outsourced their housekeeping department? I can't imagine that all of a sudden there are many more housekeeping complaints then ever before.

I noticed that our housekeeper for our March trip in '05 at ASMU spent more time watching her soaps then cleaning. When we got back to our room the channel was still on the mexican channel. The reason we know about her and the soaps was because oldest DD forgot her sunglasses and returned to the room to find the housekeeper sitting on the end of the bed watching the tv.

2006 we didn't go to WDW. But 2007 we stayed at ASMO. The room was a bit cleaner but we noticed that it was seldom vaccumed. Often there was the same stuff on the floor day after day. All we worried about was that we had clean towels, and things like that.

what is ASMO?
i have trouble figuring out some of the abbreviations!

1) Housekeeping is not "outsourced".
2) However, MANY are not WDW employees.
3) They are daily temp-service employees (ala Manpower or Kelley Services).
4) Plus, many temp-people do not speak English.
5) WDW is severely understaffed EVERYWHERE, including housekeeping.
6) They are even offering a signing bonus for housekeepers.
7) As well as paying them almost top dollar.

NOTE: WDW runs full page ads in the Orlando Sentinel every Sunday (you can read them on-line). One of the most secure areas of employment used to be CRO, now DRC. But, there is such a high turnover that they are running 70-person training classes every 6-weeks, Plus, they offer $1000 signing bonus and pay up to $10.64 per hour, excluding up to double hourly-rate performance bonuses.

We just got back from a stay at POP Century and I have to say that our mousekeeper was fabulous!!!!!! Our room was spotless every day and we got a few towel animals and she even arranged our bedding & pillows differently each day....kinda like turn down service, I guess.....
