Housekeeping still trying to get to your room early on your check out day?

Can't recall us ever having them knock on the door early on check-out day. We always have the room occupied sign out though. We stayed at a time-share recently on Hilton Head Island and they had a magnetized sign to put on the door to let housekeeping know that the room was vacant and ready to be cleaned.

Is there a button on the app to signal to mousekeeping that we've left or room?

Stayed at AKL, Jambo-Club level recently and no knock on door. We left the room about 10:30 AM.

This almost always happens to us at BWV. We stayed at BLT for our last stay and didn't have this issue.

I would really like Disney to implement a check out procedure where the guests notify someone when they are checking out (phone call, on-line, something convenient for the guest). That information is then given to housekeeping so they can start on those rooms first. This should mostly eliminate the need to knock early.

It's definitely annoying. Anytime they have knocked early, it was to ask me if I was checking out that day. Then they kinda hung around. They know I am checking out, so there's really no need to ask me. They have a lot of rooms to clean, but should be staffed accordingly so that's not really an excuse.

If you place a request with the front desk to be not disturbed on checkout day until 11:00 am, does it work?

We always leave as early as possible so housekeeping can get into the room for cleaning. I know we are much more anxious to get into a room on arrival versus than for our departure. I can understand if you have no options but to take a late flight home and if you want to spend more time in room I would be tempted to book an extra night for departure day. I know a number of guests do the same for early arrivals.

No, but you can dial the "front desk" on the phone and let them know you're checking out. I do this in the rare occasion that I'm leaving early in the morning.

No problem today at Poly, we vacated the room at 10:50, never was bothered.

I would think they could add a do not disturb type hanger for the door that says "CHECKED OUT". We almost always hit the parks on our last day and are out of the room my 8am. I would have no problem hanging my "checked out" sign when leaving so housekeeping tackles my room first while the rest of you sleep in :)

Since Dec 15, I have stayed at BWV, OKW, BRV, SSR, BCV, and BLT.
I usually leave about 10:30, and leave the 'Room Occupied' sign on the door until I leave. Never bothered by housekeeping.

I stayed at a Marriott timeshare on Hilton Head Island once that did this. I thought it was pretty effective.

I read last year about them trying to do this a lot

Lol. On our first stay they started so early and wouldn’t give up. December 2010. It’s nothing new.

What do they think? We forgot? "Oh, is it check-out day already?

Actually on that first stay I thought checkout was at noon and told the 7 family members that the night before. And then I slept in. Oops. We would have been out anyway, and housekeeeping did nothing but slow us down, but it is possible to forget the time of checkout.

It relies on the guest and guests will never do it enough to be meaningful.

While that may be beneficial, your call is actually answered by a call center and we find that often the info from the call center doesn't seem to get to the correct people.

I know that it's a call center - that's why I put "front desk" in quotes. But they still click "check out" in their computer system.

I use the "Housekeeping/Maintenance" number to let them know we are vacating the room.

We were at the Villas at Grand Floridian for Thanksgiving week. The last day housekeeping did knock around 830 am. We were all packed and leaving anyway. The lady was very nice and said she would come back. We let the person downstairs know when we left so that housekeeping could have the room.

So many want early check-in and they are just doing their best.

We tell a housekeeper if we see one on the way out on check day. If not I call housekeeping and/or tell the front desk. Everyone always seems shocked when I do. We leave usually at like 7am on our last day. Might as well get the room cleaned early!

I’d be super annoyed though if we were sleeping and they knocked.

Just wondering if housekeeping is still trying to nudge you out of your room early on your check out day? I read last year about them trying to do this a lot so on our last morning at BCVs I just put a very nice note stating we would be checking out at 11 a.m. and for them to have a magical day and it worked like a charm. No knocks on the door or anything. So I might do this at SSR as well in April.
Happened to us at AKL end of January, originally we would have been out of the room at the time they tried to come, but circumstances changed and I ended up going back into the room until 11 AM just because I could and because it irritated me that they tried before 11 AM.
