I was reading some other threads about dirty rooms upon arriving and was wondering about something. Something was said about dishes in the dishwasher. Do the maids do the dishes? I wouldn't think that is there responsibility. I guess if someone leaves a room a mess on check out day its up to the maids to do the dishes but what if they are doing a full cleaning when you are still there do they do your dishes? I would think they didn't. If I dirtied dishes I would be cleaning them before the maid could, even if it was check out day. Anyone care to share any info?

Maid will put any dishes left out(and in sink) into the dish washer and start the machine, she will not take them out of the machine and put them in cabinets unless they are still there on the next service and she needs the washer again. But you can if you wish do your own dishes. My parents and sisters just did a week in a 1 bedroom there(we spent time there while booked at WL), and we would Rinse the dishes(minimal cuz on dining plan) and maid would set up washer. If we were COOKING in the room I agree I could not sit there with a pile of dishes waiting for the maid, we would handle it.

EDIT= But we were on CASH not points, my next visit will be on OUR points.

The last time we went to BCV we had daily housekeeping and we were pleasantly surprised to find that they loaded and ran the dishwasher every day, we weren't expecting them to do this. Not sure if they would have unloaded the clean dishes had we waited until the next day.

I certainly expect housekeeping to have cleaned and put away dishes when preping the unit for new occupants, but I would NEVER expect them to do my dirty dishes! I load and unload the dishwasher every day at home...not big deal. This is my home away from home, so I do it here too.

I've never come into a DVC room and the dishes were still in the dishwasher, they have always been put away. I usually put dirty dishes in the dishwasher and start it before we leave.

I agree with you, I wouldn't expect to go in to a unit for my first night and have to put away dishes, and I would clean ours before leaving--- :flower:
