Housekeeping or no housekeeping?

We will be staying at BLT for the first time (except for an overnight in a studio with my sister) in June. We'll have a one bedroom and be MK view for 5 days and BLV for 2 days. I do not know all the ins and outs of housekeeping services offered to DVCers staying on points. Will there be towels and soaps/shampoos for all five or do I have to pay extra? Would it be a waste of money to pay for extra housekeeping? How has that worked out for you? Was it worth the extra price? Thanks everyone!

Since there are 5 allowed in a 1BR at BLT there should be towels for all. There are soaps and shampoo in each bathroom. I usually bring my own shampoo anyway. We prefer not having any extra housekeeping and would not pay for it under any circumstances. Some people feel that on vacation it is too much trouble to make up the bed - but I figure it takes less than 5 minutes . Don't know what else they do for the extra they charge. We also put the towels in the washer a couple of times during the week - usually in the morning before we leave for the day and if they get done also into the dryer. I also bring some extra laundry powder or get some from the laundry room to supplement the one box that is there at check in. Only you can decide if the extra cost is worth it for your group. Maybe you will get more detailed answers from someone who has paid for the extra services.

I have only gotten extra housekeeping twice in our 13 years of membership. Both times was because we had a change over of guests mid-trip and needed fresh beds for them. Other than getting the linen's changed, I thought it was a total waste of money. Theoretically they should be doing the same full cleaning that they do between guests, but that is NOT what we got either time. At AKV/Jambo, they didn't even bother to run the vacuumn or dust, and I had to check to make sure they changed the linens, because it wasn't obvious at first glance. In fact, I made them come back and redo the things they left undone the first time. I figure if I'm paying extra, I should at least get what I paid for. Now I've decided if we are changing guests mid-trip, I'm going to book two seperate reservations and run the risk of changing rooms just to get a fresh room for our guests.

There should be plenty of towels for everyone in your party. And, if you're concerned about keeping up with who's towel/washcloth is who's, take 2 clothespins for each person in your group. Write each person's name on 2 of the clothespins and have them attach them to their towel and washcloth. It may not bother some people, but I'm particular about where the washcloth I use on my face has been upsidedow), so this is what I'm planning to do!

We use towel and trash service and nothing else. And since we do not book studios we wash our towels as needed ourselves.

Soap and shampoo- you will have 1 small bottle (normal Disney size) and 1 bar of soap in each bathroom- there are 2 in a 1 bedroom at BLT. This will be replaced on the fourth day of your trip. If you need more than that you need to bring it or buy it- they don't give it out without paying $30ish for a trash and towel service.

When you room is cleaned on day 4 (after your 3rd night) the towels are changed and they replace the consumables.

You'll have five bath towels in each one bedroom villa.

We never bother paying extra. The place doesn't get too messy since we're not there too much. When we had a change of guests mid-stay, we put the sheets and towels in the washer and changed the bed ourselves, not a big deal (actually our first guests washed the sheets, and the second group put them back on the bed.)

There is a washer and dryer in your unit, along with a vacuum.
