I keep seeing a reoccurring comment in trip reports about horrible housekeeping, yet when I question my friends who work for Disney about this, they said they get very few complaints.

Ok, you that are having these problems surely you are not just over looking these horrible conditions listed here and not letting anyone know.:confused3

If you are, things are never going to get better.

So please, please let someone know about this while you are there and also after you get home, write a follow up account in detail.

You can email them at: wdw.guest.communications@disneyworld.com

Good idea, Sammie! I'm in the process of writing a letter to the All-Star Sports myself.

It's just like with anything in life. If you don't know it's broke, how are you going to fix it?

I agree, I never understand the people who come on and complain and never while they were there did they contact the HEAD of housekeeping, or if that also fails, [unlikely] then the resort manager, all WHILE THEY ARE THERE.
Writing a letter after the fact does not do all that much, it makes them aware of a problem but in order to try to figure out who may be to blame and why, they have to check when you were there, against work records to see who was on duty and who did YOUR room etc.
If you complain AT THE TIME, they can easily figure out what the problem is and correct it.
I understand it takes some amount of time but what do you expect when you get home? too late then, and in the meantime you live with the "problems" whatever they are.

Yes...I wish folks would "Voice" their concerns prior to departing....to hopefully rectify whatver issues are at hand.....there may be less emails.letters to Guest Communications.
I would never depart a Disney property with negative feelings...I would make sure I did my best to receive some type of closure or solution to any issues! Especially housekeeping....I think sometimes one of the culprits with housekeeping issues is communication...guests..CM's...etc

Sammie,

Thank you, thank you, thank you. Whenever I read these complaints I always ask "Did you report it?" I am amazed at the number of folks who don't. I worked as a customer service manager of a large national department store (in every mall) for 17 years and if we don't know about it there is no way a change gets made.

I think that reporting it after the fact is better than not reporting it at all. Sure, it won't change your vacation but it might make it better for someone else.

Definitely report it, even if after you get home.

As I think this is what is happening. For various reasons people do not report it while there, Which you truly should so that a manager can see what you are talking about.

But even if you don't please don't just forget about it. If you don't report these things they are not going to improve.

Sammie - I entirely agree that there have been so many reports of horrible stuff related to mousekeeping here on the DIS.

BUT... I have to question whether it is really regarded "that" bad during the stay and just observed and tossed aside at the time, or if upon returning home, folks remember all the negatives and then decide to post them here.

OR - do they feel maybe the concerns will be less likely to be addressed at a value resort? Hmmmm.....
Or at a mod?
Or at a deluxe? and thus don't bother, but vent at home to friends here? :confused3

I also have read lots of posts in the past of folks who practically re-clean the room when they check-in because of their own germophobia - zip locks for remotes, wiping down every single surface with disinfectant wipes, bringing their own sheets, blankets, pillows, etc! A smidgen of dust left behind by mousekeeping might send such a person into a panic - but would they call mousekeeping or the front desk???

You are absolutely correct that everyone who is unhappy should address the problem right then, or ASAP or else - let it go!!! We can't do anything here about your dirty room last week, except it makes future visitors to that property fill themselves with anxiety about having the same conditions to look forward to!

Sammie, thanks for posting that. It does no good to complain about it if you are not goint to take the steps to have it resolved.

It also helps to keep things in perspective. For example, I might post that I didn't receive shampoo and shower gel every day while I was on my last trip (which I didn't) as part of a general paragraph about my stay, but I don't feel that is something worth making a fuss about at the resort. That is the type of thing I might write about later, if there are other issues as well. If I receive dirty towels, the bathroom isn't cleaned, or if garbage was left where it shouldn't be, those are the types of things I would call to report when staying there, because those are the type of things that can really affect the quality of the trip.

I'm kind of curious as to what Disney expects from their Housekeepers. For instance, are they supposed to be cleaning the bathrooms?

I'm not even sure why you would believe that this isn't part of their job? The answer is 100% YES.

I have stated in other posts that maybe the housekeepers should stop worrying about stupid towel animals UNTIL my room is completely cleaned.

I've never had 'horrible' housekeeping though there were some times where the staff could do better. It never was a situation that was a 'dealbreaker' though. And if it was, you'd bet I'd be on the batphone calling the front desk or whomever to get it resolved. Even if you don't feel comfortable doing that, letting them know in writing (politely yet firmly) is another way to go about it.
