House Sitting?

So my mom works for a doctor, he and his family are going out of the country for a week and some change on a medical mission to Jamaica. Well, knowing my current employment situation, he has asked me to house sit for him. bring in the mail, take care of his puppy and stay at the house at night.

I agreed to do it, but we havent gotten all of the details yet. But now his oldest daughter and her husband are going on this mission too and want me to watch their puppy as well that week.

So, seeing as I have never done anything like this, what should I be paid? I have no idea...personally, it gives me something to do, which is great! and I love puppies...any advice for house sitting, on pay or anything else i should know about doing this??

considering a kennel would cost around $30 a day...I would say either $40 or $50 a day. (since you will be with the pups full time and giving them MUCH more attention then the kennel would)

I don't think $50 a day for 2 dogs is unreasonable.

Such a sweet job - housesitting - friend of mine did that once for 2 weeks - they gave her $1500!!

I got paid $250 for 1 week last summer. So $50/day and they only had 1 dog!

We generally pay $50 per day for a house/kennel sitter. I should clarify that we have a kennel full of 8 dogs and only 1 house dog.

We've done it once, years ago. For free. Over an anniversary of ours, actually. We were young and "broke," and sorta treated it like a vacation, even though it was in the same town we lived in.

I realize my comments are not helpful to you. I'm sorry. I posted because you brought back some nice memories for me.
