Does anyone know any sites I can look at to find rental properties?

I am looking into renting a house for 4 nights in late September and it will need to sleep around 8-10 people.

Thanks. :)

*****edited to change Georgia to South Carolina. *blush*

Sleeping around Christine?:p Just kidding, I have no idea but good luck.;)

Good golly - I didn't know that there was a Beaufort in Georgia, too! I always thought it was funny that both North Carolina and South Carolina have a Beaufort. I think they are pronounced differently, though. Where is the Beaufort in Georgia located?

I guess we Southerners find a name we like and stick with it - LOL!!

www.vrbo.com rents properties just about everywhere but they only have the Beauforts in NC and SC. Where is it near in Georgia?

OOOOps, my bad, it should be South Carolina....sorry!!

Faith!! shhhhh! dont tell my stories. ;)

LOL, no my brother will be graduating from the Marines (Parris Island) and we (family) would like to get a house instead of 2 or 3 hotel rooms.

SORRY about my confusion/dumbness!!!

Well just your luck, I'm from Beaufort SC. Yes there is a Beaufort GA and NC pronounced Bow-fort. SC is Bu-fort. For rental property, check with Hunting Island State Park, they have houses right on the beach. It's the big beach their and very nice. The houses are secluded, a little bit of a drive but worth the view. Fripp Island, Harbour Island are resort places, also located a little ways out on the island path but gorgeous and more tourist oriented. The drive out to these islands is about 12-15 miles, or no more than 20 minutes because it is 55mph and never to busy. Scenic all the way and beautiful. September is a great time to go too. In the city area their is not to much property to rent, but many hotels to choose from. Historic Downtown has a lot of B&B's, Beaufort Inn is so nice but $$$. They are all in the same neighborhood so go with a cheaper one because they have strict guidelines and are all pretty much the same. The Beaufort Chamber of Commerace has all the info.

Whatever info you need, just let me know, I know everything about the town, I love it there. I just moved within the last year away so I still have family and friends who can get any numbers or addresses you need. :)

Note*** Harbour Island's beach has no waves, it's on a small inlet, but you can walk so far out at low tide, nice shell findings, and wildlife. It has pools and clubhouse. Hunting Island is a mile further, has camping and fishing, the beach, and a lighthouse. Fripp Island is another 5 miles down and is the nicest of them all. A clubhouse or two, many pools, variety of rentals and the best beach in town. It is private so you don't have to worry about overcrowding. Their are alot of deer on Fripp Island so watch out. A few famous people live on Fripp too.

Woo Hoo Malificent!!!! That's my town, so pretty and wonderful!

Christine,
Beaufort is a great place to visit. I stayed on Harbour Island when Hunter was 6 months old. It was my favorite beach ever! (I don't care for waves like my parents do as they like to body surf.  :p

Anyway, I was there in September and I think you will LOVE it. I could pack my bags today and move there.
I don't think you can go wrong no matter which place you chose to stay. My sister married out on the beach on Fripp. Enjoy yourself and congrats to your Dbrother.

DH and I want to retire there or as close as we can get!

I love Beaufort does this look familar?

Thank you all very much for this information!! I will definately look into and will be asking questions I am sure. :)

This is why I love the DIS - so many people with info. :)

The beach from what i understand is being saved!!!!!!!!!!! Finally!!!!!! The price to get in has gone from 3$ a car to 3$ a person but worth it because the state would not help. It is getting back in shape and they may be able to avoid moving the Lighthouse again. This would be the third move and suggested that the Lighthouse would not survive it. South Beach, the one without the Lighthouse was destroyed and prohibited from visitors, other than the ones renting the cabins out. I believe it is open now and North Beach is in much better shape.

When you visit Beaufort, see if the Shrimp Shack is open, its on the way to the beach on your left. BEST SHRIMP BURGER in the world!!! They are on a coastal schedule though, open when they want too ;). If you see cars outside they are open.

in fact we are leaving for HI tomorrow!!!!!WooHoo!!!!!And I hope it's open! we always eat there love the shrimp burgers!
