Ok..down to the wire....hubby and I trying to decide on House of Blues or Ralph Brennan's Jazz Kitchen our arrival night... we have done neither... trying to do something new!! Help :)

We've only done the walk up counter at Ralph Brennan's and it is delicious! Good kid friendly options also. Their beignets are a must try, we like them better than the DL ones.

I haven't been to Ralph Brennan's, but House of Blues is great. I recommend the jambalaya.

How do you folks get in House of blues? I've tried to get in even when it's empty and there's hardly anyone in DTD but they still tell me it's going to be a 45 minute wait. For what?
I've given up trying to go there.

We had dinner there twice mid May of this year. DTD was packed both nights. Just put your name down at the outdoor host podium, and go check out some of the shops. Or the live entertainment. They will text you when your table is ready.

I like both, but I'd give Brennan's Jazz Kitchen the edge. HoB had very good food, but note that the indoor seating area is very noisy. I'd recommend eating outside (weather permitting) so you can actually talk to your table mates (instead of having to elevate your voice). Brennan's has very good food and may have live music (which can raise the noise-level). The outdoor seating area is very nice (again, weather permitting). In terms of places for children, I think both are family friendly, but neither restaurant has extra activities/elements for children (e.g., no anamontric figures, no balloon-animal makers, no characters, etc.). So in that way, it's like going to any regular (non-Disney) restaurant.

For both HoB and Brennan's, I'd recommend looking into getting a reservation (try Open Table) because the walk-up waits can be pretty lengthy, especially on weekends.

We've got a ressie for House of Blues for the first night we are there; our kids will be 7 & 4 when we travel. The menu just appealed to use more than Ralph's.

I can't comment on HoB, but Ralph Brennan's was one of my favorite spots on our last trip. I had one of the best dishes of my trip there and we ate there on a night with live jazz, which really added to the experience as well.

THIS! Someone get the fried chicken, also, order the chocolate suffle.

We loved Ralph Brennan's, and ended up going twice last trip. Our first meal was a date night, the second we had to bring the kids. Both meals were a bit hit on the trip.

I was just reading a rumor the other day -- and I can't remember which site it was -- that there is a good chance that House of Blues in Downtown Disney will be closing by the end of the year. The HoB on Sunset Blvd. is now closed, and the rumor that I read indicated that HoB would be leaving DTD due to some sort of falling out or disagreement with Disney. I have no idea if any of that is true or if it will happen, but I know that when I read that HoB was leaving the West Hollywood location my first thought was, "Hmm... I wonder what that means for the Downtown Disney location."

In any case, I'm just throwing that out there -- that House of Blues in DTD could possibly be gone soon, without much fanfare. So if you want to try it, now could be the time to do that... just in case!

I go to Ralph Brennan's every time I go to Disneyland, and it never disappoints. Their gumbo is fantastic.

I like the House of Blues, but since there is one nearby, and others in places where I typically travel, I tend to go to Ralph Brennan's.

Darn, kind of sad to see HoB move into that movie theater (been going there ever since it opened) at Gardenwalk. At least AMC opened up their dine-in movie theaters in Fullerton recently!

On the food note, I'd go with Ralph Brennans Jazz Kitchen - also second the opinion of several DISers that the noise can be pretty bad at HoB.
