DD & I did the House of Blues Gospel Brunch Sunday 5/15. I purchased the tickets about a month in advance because I wasn't sure how hard it would be to get reservations for the brunch. I called HOB direct to get the tickets, therefore saving a few dollars over the price if I had gotten them thru the ticket vendor on their website. We chose the 1:00 brunch over the 10:30 one so we could sleep in a bit. We had been drooling over their brunch menu & were quite ready to eat when we got there. I have a few pics but it was kinda dark in there & I was using a new camera so hopefully they won't be too bad. Here's a few of the outside which I'm sure most have seen before :)

Now for the food:

Ok for some reason I didn't get any pictures of the breakfast items.....too hungry I guess..:lmao: but anyway the breakfast items I tried: for my first plate I got some scrambled eggs (looked pretty much like the eggs in the Mickey D's breakfast platter), sausage links (kinda like the brown & serve links), tried to get some bacon but it was so crispy it kept breaking when I tried to use the tongs to pick it up. Biscuits looked like most fast food kind, got one & a bowl of 'country gravy'. Took this back to the table & headed for the omelet station which naturally took a few minutes but the omelet was great. But alas, by the time I made it back to the table the scrambled eggs were cold so only had one bite of them. Sausage link was a sausage link, what can I say?? Ok. the 'country gravy' was awful. Very, very thin & did not taste good at all. I'm a country girl & I know what country gravy really should look & taste like, lol. DD loves her some cheesy grits but said these were awful. So the breakfast dishes were not so good but there was plenty of other stuff to try.

On this plate I have some of the roast beef from the carving station. I got the outer part of the roast & it was sliced thin & was very good. Then there's a bbq chicken breast that was ok. Kinda on top of those is the red beans & rice that was good. Then there's some kind of seasoned white rice over black beans that was just so-so. The turnip greens were ok but had some kinda of seasoning (cajun?) & were just too sweet for me. Then the mac & cheese which was kinda bland to me.

This is my salad plate. The layout of the salads was very nice. Salads & a big platter of shrimp. I do not eat shrimp so I couldn't tell you about those, lol. First there is the Caesar salad that was beautiful but too bland. Then the field greens that were too sweet, broccoli salad, again not much taste, potato salad was good, but the tomatoes weren't all that either.

So on to the desserts:
Key lime pie which DD said was not tart enough for her but was just tart enough for me. Pecan squares were the best items in the dessert choices. Brownies looked kinda dry to me so I didn't try them.

This is my plate with the key lime pie, pecan squares & white chocolate banana bread pudding which was pretty good.

So all in all I would not go back for the brunch, but the concert was awesome!!!! The Apostle J L Cash & family were the performers & they were truly good ole gospel singers with some modern mixed in too.
