House of Blues for cheap(er)

For those with the $25 certs, we plan on using it for the 3 entree pizzas- $12 and up- for the 5 of us. About $20 with tax and tip for a nice rest and nice snack.

Our other option is a nice $6.00 dessert for all of us, yum.

Can anyone tell me when you do purchase do you print right away or do they ship it to you? I don't have a printer at home, so just trying to plan ahead. TIA.

I looked at the HoB website and it appears that there is no concert during the time we are at DCL. Do they have nightly live music or just on concert nights?

For those who were wondering - Restaurant.com certificates do not expire. And you just print them out when you buy them. Make sure to google "restaurant.com coupon" they sometimes have (even better) specials floating around - like the one I got with the extra GC's and I got the $50 for $4 :thumbsup2

It will email them to you. You can print them at work or a friend's if you can forward it there. The GC's are reprintable. They lose their value once they are called in.

We bought the restaurant.com certificate for $25. It cost us $2 so it seemed like a great deal.

Our bill was still $42 for 2 adults and 2 kids though, because they add an 18% gratuity to the total bill if you use this certificate. I can't remember the exact amount but I think in the end it saved us about $10. So not $25, but it was still better than full price.

That said, we probably won't eat there again. The food really wasn't that great. It wasn't worth the price at all in our opinion. My husband had a burger that he said was ok. A couple of days later he had a burger at Mimi's Cafe and said it blew the HoB burger out of the water and it was a few dollars cheaper too. I had a clubhouse sandwich which was made with the slimy deli turkey instead of actual roasted turkey. It was pretty disappointing for the price.

Also it is LOUD in there. I mean we expected it to be loud of course, but we couldn't hear our waiter, he couldn't really hear us and my husband and I gave up all hope of actually having a conversation while we were there.

The DTD HOB is two levels. Up stairs in the restuarant downstairs the stage, the stage area is two tiered but not connect to the dining room. When there is a concert down stairs many people report it to be deafening upstairs when eating. The Gospel Brunch does have music played though I'm not sure if you eat around the stage or in the restuarant.

We used one yesterday. Our total for 2 adults and 1 child was $32 (including gratuity) after the $25 discount. We had a kid's meal (chicken strips), milk, Fat Tire, water, pulled pork sandwich, and blackened chicken sandwich.
One minor issue - I had made a reservation but they didn't have any record of it. They asked if I had called Disney Dining and realized that is why they didn't have it. We were still able to get a table without any problem as it was early but it might have been an issue otherwise. It appears as though the Disney system doesn't always talk to the House of Blues reservation system...

I'm starting to wonder if we should eat there or not? My niece is sending a certificate that her family didn't use (the $50 one where you spend $100) there are 4 of us, husband and two teens. 18% tip is crazy, I normally give a tip based on the service/food, so that's too bad that it is included automatically..we spend $100 at the Rainforest, so I'm sure we could do it here, but it's not what I'm worried about, it sounds like from what I've read here and other places that the service and food aren't that great, so I don't want to end up spending a fortune for subpar experience! I wonder if we should try Ralph Brennan's or the Mexican food place instead? We love Mimi's too, btw, I would eat there again in a heartbeat!

Restaurants.com also has one available for the Fire and Ice grill which is in the Garden Walk, and folks seem to like.

I have also joined the email lists for Mimis and a couple other places, and I"ve already gotten several good coupon offers.
