Hotwire question PLUS moral dilemma

2 questions-
1- I just signed up for hsc and they said they will email me something for confirmation... How long does that email take to arrive?

2- Is it wrong to sell Q&Cs on ebay? I think I read there is a rule against it. I don't see how people get their money's worth when they buy them on ebay for 16-20 bucks a piece.
So is it breaking the rules to sell them... and is it opportunistic and wrong to sell them.
Thanks-
Mary

PS- I signed up to buy some Q&Cs for our trip and some Target gift cards.

I had to email them when my ID was not emailed to me within 24 hours of signing up. It took another day or so to get a response.

I don't think that it is legally wrong to sell the Q&Cs on eBay. They are not "event" tickets or park passes. They're not partially-used like some Park Hoppers that you see for sale. It would be like the many gift cards that you see listed.

The moral question is different. Is it morally right to knowingly sell an item to someone for more than it is worth? That's a sticky question. If someone pays $2.50 for a gallon of gas right off the interstate exit when it's $2.10 a few blocks further away, is the seller morally bankrupt or is he a savvy business man? Ultimately, it is up to the consumer to make sure that he gets his money's worth. However, that doesn't mean that it is morally right for one to take advantage of an uninformed buyer. It's a sticky question.

I just signed up this week too. Took less than an hour for them to send me my ID #. If you still don't have it, call their 800# and you can get your # that way too.

We just ordered our meal tickets last night so I am hoping to see then some time next week.

You're not allowed to resell the passes. Disney says so. If you do a search you'll find people who had their auctions pulled by E-Bay. The fact that some sneak through doesn't change the rule

Im wondering about that. I am looking at the Q&C and Breakfast voucher and neither of them say "Not for Resale" on them. Since connections and hotwire no longer accept returns, or refunds, maybe it has changed. And also, how else are we supposed to get rid of extra, or incorrectly ordered vouchers now?

I never said that it was permissible to sell used PHs on eBay. I said that it is okay by eBay's rules to sell the Q&C vouchers. They are not viewed the same way. The PHs are "event" tickets while the Q&C vouchers are like a gift certificate.

I have sold Q7C vouchers on ebay before. I do start my auctions low--under the price for the vouchers. If someone wants to pay more thats fine and if I break even thats fine to. No one makes the bidders bid on items.
I have big on auctions on ebay where I paid more than the value of what I was buying but it was something I really wanted so I got it. If it was something I could take or leave then I would not pay over the value for it.

Actually people have previously posted having their auctions stopped by E-Bay. Disney said the vouchers were non-saleable and E-Bay backed Disney. Not sure if this policy changed.

It's actually Hotwire, Connections, etc. that have the no resale language in their materials that relates to reselling meal vouchers. When you sign up for Connections and Hotwire, there is information posted that the meal vouchers, tickets, gift cards, gift certificates, etc. that you buy through them are to be used by you and your immediate family only, i.e., not for resale. But I agree with others -- especially since Hotwire changed their return policy -- if a buyer is willing to pay more than a voucher is worth, that's up to them. If I were reselling them, I'd start them low or at cost -- if someone wants to bid more than that it's their decision.

An easy way to get your money back and avoid someone potentially paying too much is to list the vouchers at a "Buy it now" price that is equal to what you pad or maybe a little higher to cover your listing fees. I'm sure you will sell them in a heartbeat.

Well, selling the vouchers provides a service for people who don't want to sign up for HSC or Connections.

Of course, if you sell them for *lots* more than your purchase price to people who don't know that HSC and Connections exist, then that could be seen as taking advantage.

Fine to resell if you don't mislead buyers IMHO.
Some sellers list only the most expensive meal possible as if all deals were so good. Thinking about the RFC here where some sellers say each VKL voucher is 'worth' $ 90.00. That is misleading.
We used Q&C at Peppermarket and it was the favorite restaurant of our trip (3 times).
We used our last two Q&C at Lottawhatta lodge in Blizzard Beach and paid more for the voucher then the meal would have cost in cash. Chicken wrap wasn't worth eating anyway.

I sold some vouchers on ebay with no problem. The vouchers do not say non-transferable.

I too have sold these for a profit on Ebay. I have had no problems with it. Actually it was VERY easy to do. So much so that I paid for all of our meals for our upcoming trip with the profits.

Anyway, as for misleading buyers? I do not feel I mislead anyone. Actually I receive MANY emails directly from bidders wanting to know the face value of the vouchers. I was honest with them. I even directed them to where they could buy these vouchers directly themselves. Even after I informed them some of them still paid more for them.

In addition, why is it my responsibility to educate these buyers? If they are computer savey enough to get on Ebay and bid then sure enough they are computer savey enough to get on line and do some research before buying...

I know I personally do not bid on anything on Ebay unless I know what the face value is... I always research.. If I get ripped off then it's my own fault.
