Hotels off property

I don't think we'll be able to get a room on Disney property for this July, and I was hoping someone could recommend a good local hotel/motel that is close (hopefully within walking distance). Thanks.

From my personal experience, The HoJO, the Best Western Anaheim Inn, the Del Sol, and the Tropicana are excellent Good Neighbor hotels across the street from Disneyland. My family members have also loved the Anabella, which is down on Katella next to the Convention Center.

This is a great map to view walking distances. Play with the zoom. Notice where the esplanade is, the park entrances. (I can't link, I'm too new here. Someone will hopefully direct you to good aerial maps of the area with labels or you can google it.)

We're staying at the Tropicana next month. In the past we've stayed at the Fairfield, Desert Inn and Marriott. All were fine. Desert Inn was a little seedy, though.

We will be staying at the Candy Cane Inn this Aug. We've never been there but heard good things. It is walking distance and has its own shuttle (not ART), and has a free breakfast.

We stayed at Candy Cane Inn this past March and loved it.

The walk to DL was very fast and on the same side as DL, so need to cross traffic.

If you search these forums, you'll find many reviews of all the hotels/motels within walking distance - there is even one with pictures of most of them.

We generally stay at the Days Inn & Suites. It is not as close as the ones mentioned above but it is generally a much better price and it is still walkable.

We have stayed at the Candy Cane Inn twice and love it. But lately we have stayed at the Best Western Park Place Inn which is directly across the street and maybe a five minute walk depending on the wait at the crosswalk.

We always stay at BWPPI everytime we go to DL, like what the pp said that it is just right next to the crosswalk and is a 5 min walk. The rooms are standard, but it doesn't have a great pool, but it is good place for anyone who doesn't care about the pool size. It also has a continental breakfast.

This hotel is across the street on Harbor Blvd. We just stayed there first week of June and it was a nice place. Room was very clean, bed, sheets, bathroom, everything was clean. It was about a 10 minute walk to the front gate, very managable. There is a McDonalds in front of hotel and a Pizza Hut Express in the hotel on 3rd floor. Both are convenient for a quick bite to eat out of the park. I've heard parking can be an issue but it wasn't for us since we took a shuttle from the airport.

I recommend this place highly for an off-site stay.

Have fun in Disneyland!:earsboy:

We just got home from staying at the Anabella. Great hotel, and was a good price. Walk was only about 10-15 minutes. DD is almost 5 and she did a great job walking it! It is a fun walk, you cut through GCH and enter DTD.

I have stayed at the following and prefer them in order:
Candy Cane Inn (for breakfast and shuttle)
Howard Johnson (large rooms/within walking distance)
Carousel Inn (across the crosswalk)

I have heard good things about the Fairfield Inn and Park Vue Inn. I have friends that are staying at Park Vue Inn right now for the next 4days. Its nice to have so many choices. :)

Has anyone ever stayed at the Extended Stay on Clementine, right near the Pumba parking lot? Opinions of it???
