We're going to be driving from Legoland to San Diego on the morning of June 12 (a Sunday). We want to go to Sea World and the zoo on the 12 and 13th but have no preference as to which day we do which park. We need a hotel for the nights of the 12th and 13th and then we will leave from the San Diego airport on the 14th. Can anyone suggest some good hotels? Also any suggestions as to which park to go to on each day? I don't know if they are near each other or how big San Diego is. Party is three adults and two kids, 3 and 5. We would prefer to stay in one room. Thanks!

Both of those parks are in the city, which is actually compact. The county is huge, but nothing is very far from each other in the actual city. If you stay at any hotel in Mission Valley area, you'll be within 15 minutes of both parks. Even your drive from Legoland to Sea World is probably only 45 minutes.

We have every hotel chain you can imagine, so I'd recommend thinking about what brand or quality level you want and then it will be easier to suggest something. They Hyatt on Mission Bay is nice and very close to Sea World. There is a Hilton on a different side of the bay that is very nice, too.

We're from northern San Diego county so we haven't stayed too many places around here, but sometimes we have need of a short drive after a late night event or something like that. Some of the hotels in Mission Valley can be really run down and 70's feeling, but some are newer. We've stayed at the Doubletree by Hilton Hotel Circle and it's very nice and usually reasonably priced. If you want a more beachy resort feel, La Jolla or Del Mar are very nice but also a lot more expensive. Staying downtown in the Gaslamp District has a lot of different options and things to do at night and would be right next to the airport but a little further away from Sea World. With a 3 and a 5 year old, you'll probably be gone all day and back to bed early-ish so I would stick with Mission Valley/Hotel Circle.
