We are thinking of changing a habit of a lifetime and visiting Disneyland instead of Disneyworld.

We need to do this on a budget and would be grateful if anyone could recommend any budget/cheap hotels closest to the Disneyland Park.

Thanks

Claire

The Embassy Suites are quite close with a free shuttle that takes about 15 minutes we used it in 2003 when we travelled from the Hyatt Regency across the street, they share buses.

We stay at the Camelot Inn or Tropicana. You may want to post this question on the Disneyland board and you'll receive a multitude of responses! Have fun planning your DL trip!

We liked both. Carousel Inn is directly across the street from the park entrance. The rooms are nice, not huge, but nice and clean. We were in the parks most of the time anyway. They had an ok free continental breakfast and there was a pool on the roof.

Hojo's is a bit further walk, maybe 5 minutes more. Nice hotel, we had a top floor theme park view. The grounds are nice and the pools are great.

There are many more motels on Harbor. Prices and quality can vary.

Have fun planning!

We are going next week (we leave the 25th!) and we found an awesome deal through Hotwire.com. You don't know the hotel in advance, but here's what we got-- 5 nights in a 3.5 star full-service hotel with pool and covered parking for $59 a night! It ended up being the Crowne Plaza Amaheim, about a mile from Disney with a shuttle to Disneyland every 1/2 hour. I read on trip advisor that for 3.5 star, they use Crowne Plaza and the Hilton in Anaheim, so there wasn't too much to lose.

I have used Hotwire numerous times for getting nicer hotels(I'd never book a 3-star or below without knowing the hotel first.) and I've never been disappointed. The cheapest rate i could find for the same dates at the Crowne Plaza was $169/night on Travelocity. It is a good deal. I went on several times before I found it because they don't always have the same deals up. Good luck!

You will not be sorry for changing, DL is AWESOME, I am going again this year, it doesn't have Epcot and I do miss that but the thrill of being in DL overrides that.

When we go to DL and stay off site we usually stay at the Tropicana, Howard Johnson, Desert Inn and Suites, or Ramada Inn Maingate. The Desert Inn isn't that great and Ramada is Ok. I mean you're just sleeping there. Carousel, Camalot (recent name change), and Candy Cane are good too.

Check the Disneyland board for more opinions. I hear lots of positive comments about the Howard Johnson's and Candy Cane Inn, which are both walking distance to the park. And there are other hotels even closer. An important point is you don't need to stay "on-property" and pay the Disney hotel premium. Off-site can mean literally across the street.

And here's a link to a thread that's required reading - "A DLR Guide for WDW Vets":

Forgot to list Best Western Park Plance and BW Anaheim Inn. Both are super close! Have stayed there many times and would return. Nothing fancy, just regular rooms with TINY pools.

I would definatly recommend the Best Western Park Place Inn - you cannot get any closer than this hotel! It probably closer than the Paradise Pier Hotel (which is a DL Resort hotel). The rooms are clean, the pool small but also clean and you are literally ON the crosswalk to DL when you come out of the entrance to the hotel.

The rooms aren't huge, and they're decorated in dark colours so look a bit dingy but at the end of the day you're only there to sleep! ;)
