We are driving from Memphis and will stop in Montgomery to spend the night. Can anyone suggest hotels or part of town to stay for the night.

thanks in advance!

If you don't want to go quite as far as Montgomery, there is a very nice LaQuinta at one of the last Birmingham exits. I stayed there in January on my way back to FL from AR (drove through Memphis) It was a very nice property, inside corridors, large room, standard free breakfast. I paid $53 with AARP, but the regular rate was not too bad. I had researched Montgomery and Birmingham and decided on this one. I was traveling alone and a nice, safe area was very important to me.

If you are coming down 65-S about 10-15 miles BEFORE Montgomery is the town of Prattville - I would say any of the hotels just off the interstate would be okay there (as preferred to Montgomery) - and there are plenty of food options as well (like major chains as well as one of our favs - Jim N Nicks BBQ:thumbsup2

It's an easy on/off and you won't have to navigate far off I-65

Hope this helps - enjoy your trip!!!!!:woohoo:

:thumbsup2 This is good advice, I think you'd be better off in Prattville than trying to stop in Montgomery for a stay. And I second Jim N Nicks BBQ...Yum! I've never stayed in any of the hotels down there though, so no advice there, sorry! Go on expedia or priceline and check reviews for the hotels you are considering! Good luck! :)

I've never heard of Eastchase - and I don't think I've ever seen an "exit" sign for this either?????

Is that still on I-65 ?

There are some good NEW hotels near Eastchase (a nice shopping area) in Montgomery. You can get to the hotels off I-85 on the Mitylene exit or the Taylor Rd exit.

Have a great trip!!

It is off I-85, from what I found online about one hotel (Hampton Inn, I think) it is a new shopping area. Sounded pretty good but you never know until you go.

THanks, I think I am leaning toward these hotels...
