I stumbled upon this site today which has proved quite useful. It gives reviews and information on hotels and destinations all over the world:

It's very comprehensive, the only problem I found is the fact that some people love a hotel, the next reviewer hates it!! Suppose it just goes to prove that everyone looks for something different in where they stay!

See what you mean about the variance in reports - but thankfully most were positive for our hotels
