I'm checking prices for a friend on Deluxe Resorts and it seems that the package prices are way more than just booking a room on hotels.com and then getting park hopper passes on your own.

My question is, do you still get all the perks as when booking a package thru disney, like the key to the world card that is your room key, and park pass, or will they be seperate (no big deal) etc..

from my searching the boardwalk/yacht club/beach club are about $364 per night and Saratoga Springs $259/nt we need 5 nights and 2 rooms so that would be $2590 for SS or $3640 for BC/YC/BW and adding $330 for park hopper tix w/water parks makes $2920 for SS and $3970 for the others. Well looking into the package thru www.disney.com for just 1 room at SS with 3 tix is $3395.20 and I would have to double that to $6790.40 to get a second room and more tix...... That is alot difference....am I doing something wrong? I can get airfare for $1295 and still only spend $4205 total for SS
I realize it would be easier to book it all thru Disney, but I can save thousands by splitting it up.??????

Well, if you are staying at a WDW resort, no matter who thru, you will get perks IE: EMH, not sure what other perks you are asking about. You can have your park tickets put on a room key no matter what.

I would just check to make sure the TOTAL for hotel.com and also how about changes. If you need to change or cancel what are the rules?

Also, any chance you can give the dates? Without that gonna be hard for others to compare and see what they come up with. And the disney site didnt add on a dining plan or anything did it?

It was for Dec 18 - 23. 2 adults 4 kids aged 18, 8, 7, and infant under 2 (which I don't think requires a ticket for theme parks) Looking for either 2 hotel rooms in a deluxe or a 2br villa. the disney package I was looking at only included the room and park hopper passes with water park but no food or anything else.

If we did buy hotel thru hotels.com, should we get park tickets online at disney.com or can we wait until we get there and buy them at the hotel. How can they put room and park admission on the same key to the world card?

Thanks guys!

Depending on resort availability, the 4/3 offer should be available for those dates. So if you just went to the Disney site and priced it out without clicking through the special 4/3 offer, you probably didn't get the best price you could have.

Just checked myself (and just realized you only have 5 nights, not 7 so that skews things for the 4/3 because you'd only be getting one night free) - I get $5147 for a 2 BR at OKW for those dates, 7 day base park (no extra charge between selecting 5 day or 7 day because of the deal). 2 BR villas are really pricey all the time.

I didn't check prices for one room at a deluxe (that you could then multiply x 2 to get your total). But you might want to go there and make sure you click through the 4/3 deal link and see what you come up with since I didn't really compare apples to apples based on what you wrote in your original post.

Are you sure you're factoring in the number of park hopper tickets w/water parks that you need. I'm sure it comes to more than $330 total?

Didnt even notice that, but yea, it appears they only had one park ticket in that price!

$2590 for SS and adding $330 for park hopper tix w/water parks makes $2920 for SS

undercovertourists shows this
Adult (10+) $335.95
Child (3-9) $304.95
for 5 day PH with water parks
so you need 3 x 336 (1008) and and 2 x 305 (610) .. so 1618 for tickets...

woops - just realized that I was adding up the ticket price per person and was forgetting to x by 5 for 5 days, that sure makes a diff! Boy was that stupid! I forgot how expensive Disney is! We went to Universal this summer and bought 7 day unlimited tix for $99 per person and stayed at an awesome hotel (Royal Pacific) Doubt I will do Disney again, but am checking for a friend. I will post what price works out to be the best when we decide. Thanks for all the help!

I was playing with your friend's trip, and I was also able to pull up the Grand Floridian for $4,600. Because there is 5+1 in the room, they can fit into 1 room. It would be 2 queen beds, a day bed, and a crib for the infant. They might be crowded, but they would fit!

There is also the Cabins at Wilderness Lodge that might be even cheaper. Those will sleep 6, and have a full size kitchen as well.

Your friend can get the $259/night rate at SSR though Disney too by going through the special offers link. You also have to remember that when you price something out with Disney, it includes tax. I doubt the $259 through hotels.com included tax and fees yet. With $259/night for 5 nights with 2 rooms, plus tax, plus $1618 for tix, you are looking at just over $4,500. Is your friend really going to want Water Parks & More in December for a 5 night trip? That won't leave much time or Disney quest and one of the water parks will be closed anyway, i think. That would save her $250. If she didn't get PH, that would save her another $250, bringing her total down to $4,000 or she could use that $500 to add on dining. We went for 5 days in May and we didn't even have time for DHS or AK, let alone hop from park to park.

Club level rooms are 40% off during that time. I just looked and found Beach Club for $3,764.61
That includes Club level and 5 day hoppers for all.
Or the Yacht Club for $3,798.36
That includes Club level and 5 day park hoppers for all.
This deal is on the Disney site.

Im sorry for asking a :confused3dumb question:confused3 but how do you tell hotels.com to look for a room on property, that is at a Disneyworld resort hotel?

thanks for everyone's suggestions, friend has now narrowed down to Grand Floridian (2 rooms) or Animal Kingdom Lodge (either 2 reg rooms, or a 2br suite). On a funny side note my friend is booking for her boss who has more money than sense, so I don't know why he isn't using a travel agent, I guess he is rich, but cheap. We will probably book this trip this weekend, so I will post our results.

To answer the question on hotels.com : I just put in Orlando and the dates and it lists all the hotels available and the rates. You can list them in order of star level, or proximity to a certain landmark, etc... I just paged thru and checked the ones that were Disney properties. They were always listed with "disney" as the first word of the title, like "Disney's Grand Floridian", or "Disney's Animal Kingdom Lodge"

Not cheap, just DUMB. TA's don't cost you any money, and we do all the work for you. Disney pays TA's commissions, not the client. Nice of you friend to play TA for free. ;) Let me know if you have any other questions.
