We are planning 3 days in Orlando in late April...to get our feet wet and see how our 3 kiddos (1, 3, and 5) do with the parks, excitement, etc. (we will be driving up from our vacation home in Boca) Our plan is to go back for a week in October and use our Marriott points to stay at one of their Marriott Vacation Club properties.

Anyhow, today I realized that DH and I have enough Delta points (2 Russian adoptions and many trips to Moscow to accumulate those!) to cover our 3 day stay and a room for my parents who are coming with us. We can even stay on Disney property at a value.

There are also a number of hotels off site to chose from - just not sure which ones would be suites. If we stay offsite I'd like to have a separate bedroom/living area. Any recommendation on hotels that are like this - I figured the Embassy Suites and Springhill Suites. Anything else?

Or would you just use the points and stay at a value? My parents would never spend the $$$ to do this, so I think it would be a real treat for them. I would love to do this for them, as they watched our oldest son while we took 3 trips to Russia to bring home our middle child. Like I mentioned we accumulated the Delta miles on these trips, so it seems fitting to do this for them with the miles. Can you tell I am leaning towards this?

I think DH and I can survive 3 nights with 3 kiddos in a value room :)

We've used our points to stay at most of the area Marriotts (but not the timeshare ones). One you missed is the Residence Inn...much more space than the Springhill Suites (esp. if you book a 2 b/r) plus a better breakfast, nice pool, great location on Palm.

note: Springhill is still a nice place to stay though, as well as the other 2 Mariotts at Lake Bryan...Fairfield and Courtyard. Fairfield also added bunkbed rooms last year...set behind a wall with a separate tv too, but the room is pretty tight as far as space goes.

There's another Courtyard also on Palm that has suite rooms with a mini kitchen (fridge, micro, coffee). HTH

I think it depends on how close your family is accostomed to being and what you anticiate their response to the parks will be. Value resorts feature 2 double beds and not much floor space. There might be enough for a pack and play but that will make it really tight. If one child is overstimulated, and the others are trying to sleep, what is the back up plan.

However, if they all share a room at home it may not be much of an issue. For my family, we require more space than the value resorts offer (mine are 1 and 3). To be honest I'm not sure they will let you have 5 in a value room??? I believe the capacity is 4.

Have a good scouting trip.

My oldest would definately be up for bunking with Nana and Pop if we could not have 5 in a value room. My youngest just turned 1 so she'd be in a pack and play. I was thinking that if we went for the onsite value rooms, we could request (I know its not guaranteed) adjoining rooms. If one needed to sleep/one awake we'd have the 2 rooms. My parents will probably be gone at Epcot all day, so this would be helpful if we decided to come back for mid afternoon naps with the kids. Heck, the kiddos are getting pushed in a stroller all day...I am going to need the NAP :)

I think for the experience of staying onsite (for virtually free) I could suck up the small quarters for 3 nights - at least I hope so.

Thanks..I will look into the offsite suite recommendations, too.

Make sure you request connecting rooms (not just adjoining) if you want the door between the two rooms.

The rooms at Pop were very small in my estimation. With all of our stuff (twin 5 year olds) and us it was miserable. I would really look into a suite option.

Just my little opinion!
