We did the hotel stay last Thanksgiving and did not have to have a photo i.d. but used our room keys for express pass. When did that change?

Also, my brother and I will be checking in at different times (flying vs. driving). Is there a problem with us not all being at the desk at the same time?

It changed earlier this year.

You can get your Express Pass at any time with your hotel key. They have kiosks that you swipe your key at and it will take your picture and print out a pass for you.

Is it still unlimited express use for hotel guests (vs one time per ride for those buying an express pass)? Also, do you need to get a new pass each day or is it good for the duration of your stay?

it was announced in late feb that the express systems will change for the hotel guests.
different attempts during the months after that to get the system going correctly.

probably since june, it has been running fine with hotel guests using the photo ep card.

your brother and you can check in at different times.
the first person that checks in will probably be aware of the room number first.
when the second member in your group arrives, have them check in so they can get their room key at the hotel.

let the tm at check in be aware that there are two adults in your party arriving at different times.

this will not be a problem.

all onsite hotel guests have the perk of unlimited usage with the express lines.
you have a hotel picture id card made after you check in.

on that card the dates of your stay will be listed.
you only need to have that card made once.

if you lose the card, it can be remade.
the original one would be deactivated at that time.

Thanks! Sounds like a nice souvenir!

What if you check in early and your room isn't ready yet? Obviously, you won't have a 'key' for your room. Would they just give you a generic hotel facility access pass key that would work as your express pass? Do you get one for each person in your room, or just one per room (with the # of people in your party listed on the card)?

Also, if you are just staying one night, would the date you check in, plus the date you check out be listed on the pass?

Thanks!

when you check in, you receive a hotel key for all in your group.
everyone gets a hotel key, even the kids.

that hotel key is needed to create your picture id express pass.
the dates of your hotel stay is listed on that pass.

you are allowed the hotel perks for the day you check into the hotel and the day you check out of the hotel.

the hotel perks for the parks and city walk terminates when the parks close on your check out day.

when you receive your hotel key, you are assigned a room.
if the room is not ready, you will receive a text or phone call when it is.
you can go to the parks and have fun instead of waiting around to enter your hotel room.

you can be told at check in the hotel room number.
if that info is not available at that time, you will get that room number info in your text/phone call.

you can request your stuff be brought up to your room if you had it held with the bellhops in the hotel.

you do not have to stop back at the front desk when you return to the hotel from the parks. (many do the parks once they check in)

your hotel key will be set up to reflect the room in advance, once the room has been assigned.

Very informative, macraven - thanks so much!

Wow - the hotels sound like well-oiled machines. I'm impressed that I can get a key in advance, get a text, and then go back to the room later on that day and my stuff will just be there. Awesome!:thumbsup2

Now I am wondering if I should splurge for two nights! See??? I'm sucked into their web of wonderfulness already, and I am 3000 miles away!

Wait until we tell you about their pools, and how they have ice water with lemon, and towels handed to you, and (I've heard) sunscreen provided to you if you need it...

Or how, unlike Disney, having something sent back to your room means it's *sent back to your room*. It's not just down at Bell Services to pick up. (still the next day, though)

Or how, unlike Disney, if you have a child in your party (I can't remember if you do) that is too short for a ride, they do the child swap INSIDE the ride, so the whole party stays together for much longer. And they have nice rooms with TVs for the little kid(s) and second adult rider to wait in...

I could go on and on. But I think I've already overwhelmed you, so I'll try to stop. Or at least slow down. By the way, definitely join the "You First" frequent stayer program with Loews, just in case you are hooked and want to go back again and again and again.

OMG!!!! STOP, PULEEEZE - or I am going to faint!:faint:

Yes, my daughter might be too short for some rides, so I could see needing the child swap!!!

Thanks again for all the info :worship: - I'll undoubtedly be asking for more advice as the months proceed!

Thanks for the great info! We will have all people listed on the reservation, so hopefully it will go seamlessly.

I appreciate the great info.
