Hotel stay necessary in late January? Also best place to buy tickets?

I haven't been to Universal for a few years now Yesterday I booked a trip for January 24th - February 4th. We are hitting up Universal and Busch Gardens. We usually go in April or May and stay one night in an Universal hotel for FOTL/express privileges. I know some may say it's not even necessary during those times, but we started doing it and really enjoyed literally no waiting.

Do you think late January/early February will be super slow so we don't need express pass? Also, by not staying on site, we will be losing the early entry -- will that be a factor?

Finally -- where can I get the cheapest price on multi day park to park tickets? Undercover tourist? Does anyone know if Costco or Sam's club is selling tickets?

We always stay onsite no matter what.We love the resorts and the express passes ( even in slow times ) it helps us get more accomplished in LESS park hours ( parks close early).Plus the early entry for Harry potter is worth it.Even in late Jan, HP had the most crowds and longest lines.We are also going in late Jan 2015 and are staying onsite again

Yep, never stay offsite. We visit at least once a month and would not have it any other way. Even if you do one night it's worth the relaxation for 2 days.

UT is probably your best bet for multiple entry tickets.
