Help..I am totally bummed...I was all set to go and reserve HoJo tonight for our July trip ..I wanted to do the 2 bedroom suite with the bunkbeds. They aren't showing up as an option to my dates! I want to crt. I am at work so I can't call but I am going to have DH call once the kids are in bed to see if there is any way I can get them. I am so bummed.

Does anyone know if there are other hotels in close walking distance with a similar room configuration? Should I still stay at HoJo and just do the 2 queen beds? One of the kids can bunk with my mom...so it would be 2 kids and 2 adults in one room and 1 kid 1 adult in another.
Should this be a deal breaker or is HoJo still worth it for the pool!
Any suggestions. I am so sad! We were just surprised with this trip so we could not have booked earlier.

I just typed in a few different dates and the kids suite did not come up at all. I would try to call the hotel directly on Monday. If the room is not available and you really want bunk beds, you can also try the portofino inn & suites or Carousel Inn and Suites. Good luck!!

Best Western Park Place Inn (right next door to HOJO) has similar configurations.
When you try to book through discounters they only have queen set ups but if you book through Best Westerns website they actually have King suites which is 2 rooms with King beds connected each room has its own bathroom as well as a queen sized sleeper pullout sofa. Lots of sleeping space. We are booked in the rooms for next month and got a rate of $200 night. (Sleeps 8-10 according to the reservations lady I spoke with) Remember you will only find it on their website! THe room is called a King Junior suite

If you dont have any luck after calling then you might try the Ramada Convention Center. Its an OK hotel but it does have the room configuration your seeking. The pool there is really small but the rooms are fine. Its really close to everything. Not my favorite place but one i'd do again in a pinch.

Both the Marriott Residence Inns have 2 bedroom suites and the Maingate one isn't too far. Free breakfast too, but pool isn't nearly as nice as Hojo.

Park Vue Inn across the street from DL has bunk beds and free hot breakfast plus light evening meal.

Re: Best Western PPI King Junior Suite - Caution!! I would read the very fine print, (copied and pasted below) looks like there are NO AAA discounts, NO 7 or 14 day discounts, and what the heck is this first line showing here, no refund at all and payment taken upon booking??? HUH? NOT good. I would check Hojo's on a weekly basis to see if anything comes up for you.

I am not sure what they are refering to regarding prepayment. We have 2 of the king suites booked for next month and did not have to prepay. We were told at the time of booking that we could cancel without charge(48 hours). Regarding no discount, that is also the reason they dont have these rooms available through any of the hotel discount places like expedia or travelocity. They must sell them at rack rate I would guess...:confused3
I will update the thread with a review of the king suite when we return.

JMO - but DON'T stay at the Ramada Convention Center It is the most disgusting hotel I have ever stayed at. I booked on Hotwire so it was non-refundable. The cleaning staff did a great job of the beds - but that is IT. The walls were FILTHY, the outdoor corridors were FILTHY, the pool had cockroaches, the breakfast room was- you guessed it FILTHY.

There is certainly some differences in their cancellation policies, seems there is a glitch - looks like 7, 14, and 21 day ressies are non-refundable, but looks like they might now be charging one night's stay if you book within 48 hours... hard to understand the fine print, it seems to be worded not very well. Ugh.

I hadn't realized they had the king junior mini suites... first time I ever heard of that, so thanks for updating the thread when you return.

I'm pretty sure that Desert Inn and Suites has similar rooms. We have a kids suite booked at Portofino Inn and Suites this July so I know they have similar rooms.

Carousel Inn has a 2 room kid suite just like HOJOs, however I think it's more $. Worth checking.
Park Vue Inn has bunk rooms but they are not separate rooms. ;)
HTH!

Don't give up too soon! You could call every morning to see if any Kids Suites have opened up. Meanwhile, choose a back-up place just in case.

We have stayed here a few times and loved it.Hot breakfast, complimentary grocery shopping, mangers special 3 nights a week.

I think the pools at the HoJo totally make it worth rethinking the type of room you request. We spent our down time from the parks at the Pirate's Cove. The kids absolutely loved it. We also found the bed's very comfy, the staff very friendly & the location perfect.

I can tell you that the pool at the Desert Inn, is inside & small. We went in summer of 2005 & you couldn't get in there....it was that packed. The Tropicana's pool is in the middle of the parking lot & looked to be decent sized....but no kiddie area.

So I guess you need to figure out what exactly you are wanting out of your motel/hotel stay. If you don't think you'll use the pool very much, then you can find other wonderful places to stay that might have suites that will fit your families needs. If you know you're going to spend a good amount of time at the pools, then you might want to stay with the HoJo. The thing we really enjoyed about their play area, was feeling like the kids were safe. They did have pool attendants keeping an eye on things.

Good luck with your decision. Hopefully when you're able to call, they'll have suites available during your trip time. (never hurts to keep checking back either, as people do cancel)

Thats just the insight I was looking for!!!

Thanks everyone for your input! Like I said this trip was just surprised on us so we didn't have much time to plan ahead. I did call HoJo this am and all the kids suites are taken. She did say there are some queen deluxe premium avail. Think I may do that for both my mom and us. I will keep checking back to see if anything opens up, but I won't hold my breath. I love the idea of the kids having their own area so DH and I can have some time together at the end of the night but I think the coolness factor of the pool is a bid deal for the kids. I would hate for them to miss out on that. This will likely be our one and only trip to CA while the kids are young so I don't want to pass up on the pool.

Thank you!!!!

ps: can anyone tell me the difference in the queen premium and queen superior rooms. I thought there were just deluxe and premium but now that I am on the site I see superior rooms too. Looks like the only difference is a microwave. Is that right??? thanks! are the superior is Bldg 1 also so you can see fireworks?
