Hotel Royal Plaza

Any comments, pros or cons on the Hotel Royal Plaza in Downtown Disney?

We stayed there May 4-7. It is a beautiful hotel! However, we thought the room was very narrow compared to the Marriott. The rooms seemed larger there. The bathrooms in the HRP have a nice big corner tub and are larger than the Marriott's. We stayed there with me, my DH and our 4 kids 9,7,3,2. There is a pull out sofa so this gave us plenty of room to sleep. My biggest complaint was the pool. There isn't a kiddie pool and the water seemed a bit cloudy and slightly greenish. We like the pool area better at the Marriot. Also, food at the Giraffe cafe was rather decent, but a bit pricey. I would just eat at DD. The buses were fine, but to go to MK you are dropped at the TTC and then take transportation to MK by Monorail or ferry. If you don't have kids, I think this hotel is great. The lobby is beautiful! Hope all this helps. We won't stay there again only b/c we decided after that trip we need more room. However, if we only had 2 kids, I think I would stay as All Stars. Most kids would just as soon play at the hotel, and this doesn't have much for kids!

Do you think this is a good idea for just the two of us. We need a room for 3 nights before we check into AKL and then off to Old Key West. They tell me they are running a special for August and that you get two adult breakfast buffets each morning while you are staying with them.

I was considering going to the courtyard by marriot. Is that the hotel that you thought was better than the Hotel Royal Plaza???

Yes, I am talking about the Courtyard right next door to Hotel Royal Plaza, if you are taking children. For just adults, the hotel is very nice. And the food, breakfast and dinner were good in our opinion.We just didn't think there pool area was too hot. Thanks!
