I booked the Rodeway Inn Maingate for 1/25 for $28 a night. I stayed there one night. The hotel is on the DIS at: http://www.wdwinfo.com/wdwinfo/Resorts/rodeway/index.htm
The hotel is on I-192 right before the I-4 overpass. It's about 1/2 mile to Old Town and about 3-4 miles to WDW. The hotel is a little bit away from I-192. Restaurants like the Waffle House are next door. The Nike Factory Outlet and a few other stores and restaurants are down the street.
The lobby of the hotel is very nice. There's a TV that shows cartoons in the morning. Coffee and juice are available in the morning. You can also get a muffin too.
The rooms are mostly away from the main road, so you won't be disturbed by the traffic. The rooms are all outside rooms. My room was on the 2nd floor and it was a short dash from the parking area to the room.
The room itself was small, but pretty clean. A family of four may have some trouble feeling comfortable in the room, but it can be done. There was nothing remarkable about the room, but nothing wrong with it. The bathroom was clean. The only problem I encountered was when I twisted the shower head and it broke off! I quietly put it down and the shower was like getting wet from a garden hose.
The biggest surprise came on the bill. I thought my rate was $28 a night, but it ended up being $26! I "forgot" to complain.
With the rate that I got, I wasn't expecting Portifino Bay. It certainly isn't the lap of luxury. The Rodeway Inn, however, was a good deal for the money. It's an above average property for under $30.
