recieved a letter this morning warning us that refurbishments were taking place at various locations including sl where we are staying next month. any info anyone?

Eee, I'm there next month too! Hope it doesn't disturb us!!!

Oh dear - we are there next month as well. Think it may be same time as you Danbex and staying at S Lodge as well. We havent had a letter. We booked direct Who did you book with?

I stayed at NBC while they were refurbing some years ago. If we hadn't got lost and strayed along the corridor where work was in progress we would have been totally unaware that anything was going on.

there was referb's going on when we stayed at SL in 2006 and they had covered our room window in the white stuff that they cover the buildings in when they are painting, i complained at reception and as there was no room we couldnt be moved but they did reimburse us for 1 nights stay. i have to say it did ruin the time in the room as there was people going past the window on scaffolding so we had to keep the curtains shut and therfore missed out on the lake side room i had paid extra for! i did complain when we got home and they said as i had accpeted some cash at the hotel they felt the matter had been dealt with. i wasnt 100% happy although next time we went they did give us a lovely big room with a balcony and a wonderful view so they kinda made uo for it!! :thumbsup2

There were over the front of SL last month when we were there last month but this did not affect our stay at all. When were in DLH in Feb other rooms down our corridor were being decorated, we were constantly passing the decorators in the corridor, there was a smell of fresh paint and we kept trying to sneek a peek at what they were doing, but again this did not affect our stay, there was no additional noise and they seemed to work during reasonable hours. Just glad rerally that the hotels are being maintained

booked through leger.letter says2refurbishment works taking place at cheyenne,s.l,and newport bay 23/6 until 30/7.
"work includes the installation of scaffoldingon the exterior of the buildings.""will prevent the opening of windows "guests ,whenever possible will be allocated rooms away from these areas"
One question.WHY THE HECK WOULD THEY DO THIS IN JUNE AND JULY?

Thanks. We have paid extra to have a Montana Lakeside room and will not be happy as Mrs Stonfiesta if there is scaffolding outside the room and workman walking about out there all the time - otherwise we might as well have had a cheaper room.

letter says work will be carried out mon-fri 0900-1800. i think the desk may be quite busy!

Annoying as it is, the hotels are nearly fully booked all the time so it is difficult to schedule when to do the work.

are you more likely to want to open your window in June or perhaps say October?

I've paid for montana lakeside and chose SL over NPB and HNY just for the views!!

If I don't have one there is going to be a great big disney fuss!!!

I hope this is not true. Why on earth will they put up scafolding in the summer season?.

Im going to stay at SL in July and have payed for a lake view room.

If my view is blocked with scafolding, they will have to pay me the diffence between lake view and standard view, or else ....... :furious:

Im usualy a very nice and calm person, but i cant stand bad timing, like scafolding the hotel im staying at.

Im right there with you denmark!

I have 4 disney days this year! And if I don;t get exactly what I have paid for...there will be trouble.

I feel more than the difference would be due to be honest...

Hope i havent upset anyone, this is true i recieved the letter on sat morning. i too will be making the proverbial stink if we cant open our window. see you all at the desk!!!!!!!!!!!

probably only sent to people who booked through leger.unfortunately i dont have a scanner here. im suprised theres nothing on the official site.if you like i will put it on here word for word.

Agreed and the letter does say rooms will be allocated away from the work areas. When we stayed at the NPB the West Wing was being refurbed and as far as I could see there were no guests in that part of the hotel. Fingers crossed you won't face any disruption.

To be perfectly honest after our Sequoia Lodge stays last year, the one thing I did mention in my trippies was the need for a refurb in all 3 of the rooms we were allocated, I hope they're doing the interior as well as the exterior of the hotel.

They had already started on the interior when we stayed Easter last year. Our room was newly decorated & a whole new bathroom suite had been installed. But obviously due to the sizes of the hotels it takes a while for the refurb to be complete, unless they shut the hotel completely which wouldn't make financial sense.

allocated rooms away from work "wherever possible". I still question the wisdom of doing this in june/july. there are times when the hotels are not full. it should be a case of guaranteeed rooms away from the work even if this means an upgrade of room or even hotel. This work is not done on a whim and will have been planned for some time.We have been informed 4 weeks before we travel!Had we known far enough in advance then we would have looked at our options. As a customer relations excercise this leaves a lot to be desired.
