Hi everyone!

We're planning a little vacation to Virginia next May, with the intent of visiting Colonial Williamsburg and Busch Gardens.

Can anyone provide some hotel recommendations? :confused3 I hate reading reviews because I know that not everyone is that same, and things that bother some people might not be a big deal to others.

It seems that every hotel in the area claims to be "in the center of all the attractions" but I've been duped before and I just want some "real people" offering opinions!

TIA!

We've been very pleased with the Hampton Inns in Williamsburg (there are 3). The Richmond Road one is a little older than the other two, but has great service. They all have really good breakfasts (including hot items) and have good locations.

As long as the hotel says "Williamsburg" you should be fairly close to everything. We made the mistake last month of booking a hotel in Newport News (all of the Williamsburg hotels were booked for the weekend) and the traffic on I-64 between there and Williamsburg was a nightmare to deal with every day.

Oh good, thanks for letting me know about that! I was just starting to venture into Newport News hotels! Good to know! And thanks for the recommendation! I have been pleased with Hampton Inn in the past when we've stayed in North Carolina.

We stayed at the Governor's Inn and were very pleased. It was inexpensive, clean, and had a pretty good free breakfast. We walked to all the attractions in Colonial Williamsburg. It is also a pretty easy drive to Busch Gardens from there. I think some reviews of it mentioned traffic or train noise. We were at the opposite end from where the train tracks were (although I don't remember seeing a train the whole time we were there) and we were never bothered with any outside noise.
It was nothing fancy, but it was clean and comfortable. I think it was a good deal for the money.

We stayed at Springhill Suites by Marriott in April 2009, and were very happy with it.

Kingsmill Resort was really nice. They had a free shuttle to Busch Gardens and Water Country USA.

Hands down Comfort Suites on Bypass Rd. It's brand new, just built in March. Clean, comfortable, good breakfast, friendly staff. There's a Golden Corral within walking distance. We just came back last month and loved it. (The hotel)

We stayed in the holiday hotel and suites last month--very nice. We didn't have a suite, but still roomy.

We have also stayed in the Embassy suites. Can't go wrong with embassy, but usually no good deals there.

I agree. We've stayed the last two years at the HI on Richmond Road, by the huge Yankee Candle store. About 10 minutes to Bg and Col. Williamsburg. Tiny indoor pool, but good breakfast and clean rooms. We paid $99/night both trips. Not sure of the road the other one is on, but it is a little bit closer to BG - maybe two miles closer at the most.

Comfort Suites Bypass rd. Love that place. Had a wonderful suite, great breakfast, very friendly and I loved the decor and location!

I stayed at the Hilton Garden Inn. Nice rooms, close proximity to restaurants, a pool, and complimentary cookies.

We stayed at the Williamsburg Hospitality House. Clean, large rooms. We would stay there again. We walked to Colonial Williamsburg each day. It was nice not needing the car. The drive to Busch Gardens was just a few minutes.

Holiday Inn Express on Richmond Road was very nice and had a great comp breakfast.

I do have one DO NOT stay at place in Williamsburg--- Quility Inn Lord Praget.... it was a major dump!!!!!

Not sure if you would consider a Bed and Breakfast (or if you have kids), but we loved Inn at 802 on Jamestown Road.

Thanks, everyone, for your suggestions! I appreciate the input! It will be a while (at least until after our WDW trip) before we book anything, but I like to be prepared!
