We managed to get nonstop flights from Portland,ME this summer for $223.00/person (taxes in):cool1: . That deal on flights and booking Cypress Pointe for $76.00 canadian (2 bedroom including tax) has made it impossible for us not to go back this summer!!:goodvibes

Can anyone suggest a hotel in Portland? Preferably free breakfast and shuttle to the airport. Hotel rates are really expensive for some reason.:confused3

Thanks

The Days Inn in Portalnd offers a nice free breakfast. It is right across from the Maine mall - not sure if they offer shuttle to the airport though. The hotel doesn't look like much from the outside but the rooms are always clean.

I was just looking at that:surfweb: . We can get a rate of $107.00 (which is amazing for Portland) and it does include free shuttle to the airport. I think I will book this one, even for a backup. Have you stayed there? How is the breakfast?:goodvibes

Have you flown out of Portland? I was wondering what the airport is like? We will have over 3 hours to kill (because of check out time at the hotel) and wondering if there are restaurants or playground to occupy the kiddies?;)

we have done it 3 times and gone to holiday inn on sables drive.

usually 109$ with parking included. 10$pernight at airport so basically free.

also check marriott besides it

Thanks yanjan. Is it the Holiday Inn Express? If so, I have an email into them asking if we can use the government rate. There is a "canadian government" rate but no rates come up and then there is "government rate". If Canadian's are allowed to use this one, our rate would be $107.00. ;) If we can't, I think our rate would be around $160.00.

How was the breakfast? It looks like it is more than a continental breakfast.:goodvibes

When are you going Bea? We are flying from Portland on Aug 5th.,(JetBlue) Our first time from there as well. I was just looking for a hotel as well..so am following your thread! Hope you don't mind!!

forgot that part, its the express.

yes we used the goverment rate (military) and they accept it.

the bfast is continental with cereal, yogurt toast and such but still good to grab before heading to the airport.

107 is not that bad considering parking is included (make sure you tell them and request that rate.) sometime they might add 10 more just for it.

if you go there for 8 days the parking would cost you 80 so you get a room for 30 bucks cant beat that:thumbsup2

I just called the Holiday Inn to confirm the Canadian gov't rate and yep, they will allow us to book using that rate:cool1: . They also said the shuttle is free but parking (at the hotel) is $10.00 for the first 7 days, and $10.00/day after that. :confused3

This parking fee increase is happening all over. We fly from Bangor usually, but in March we flew Portland to St.Pete's and the charge to park in airport parking was 10 per day too.

Is anyone aware of any hotels that still include parking in Portland Maine. We will be leaving the van for 15 days in February. Could be expensive if we need to pay.

Hi Waiting,
I had visited portland last year for the same purpose. At that time my friend had suggested me a website for European countries called Sletoh.com .It’s really a very good online resource. It will help you to compare hotel prices and rates in an instant. You can find hotels according to your budget and requirements. Hope this will work out for you.
Happy journey in advance!
