We're heading out to the LA area in December to see some relatives, and would like to spend 3 days/2 nights at DL/DCA. I checked several of the hotels recommended here, but most don't appear to have room for all of us (2 adults and children ages 7, 6, 3, 1). Any recommendations on good hotels with suites - reasonably priced, and preferably within walking distance of the parks? We don't care about a pool, but a nice complimentary breakfast and the option of a small fridge would be good. This would be for the first week of December.
Thanks in advance for any tips!

The Best Western Raffles Inn and the Comfort Inn Maingate both have rooms called "kids suites" which have two queen beds in one room with french doors separating it from another room with 2 bunk beds. I wouldn't consider either within walking distance though.

The Desert Inn and Suites has different room options that may work for you. However their reviews have been spotty. We're staying there in 10 days. I can let you know how it goes if you want. It is within easy walking distance.

You can also try the Best Western Park Place Inn. Their mini-suites hold six people, and they are the closest within walking distance to the parks.

Try the Desert Palms & Suites (it is different from the Desert Inn). Desert Palms is a new hotel (only about a 18 months old). Many room options, small fridge, and free breakfast. There is also a Quizos in the lobby.

We stayed at the Park Inn (across the street from DL) and had a family suite. Huge room (actually 2 rooms: living room with queen sized bed and sofa bed, bedroom with 2 queens) reasonable, clean! Fridge, microwave and dining room table. Only thing that would have made it better would have been a 2nd bathroom!

The Candy Cane Inn doesn't have suites but they do have connecting rooms - you could get 2. The free breakfast is good and is a real $$ saver. The shuttle is excellent and/or it's an easy walk (about 8-10 minutes) to the parks. 2 rooms here would probably be a little more than a suite somewhere else, but it's very close, very nice & clean and the breakfast is great.

The Residence Inn Garden Grove is about 1 mile away on Harbor and I would highly recommend it. You can get a two bedroom two bath suite with a living room and full kitchen (including pots, pans, plates, cups, etc...). There is a free breakfast that is very good! We had a suite that had one room with 2 queen beds and the other with bunk beds for the kids. The couch in the living room also turned into a bed. It was great having 2 bathrooms with 6 people in the room! The kitchen was gerat too! We ran across the street to Target and picked up water, soda, juice, and snacks. The berakfast is a buffet of cereal, pastries, toast, muffins, waffles, pancakes, eggs, etc... very good!

We always stay at the Anaheim Desert Inn and Suites. IT does have room for your family. IT has a small continental breakfast, but you have to get there early. It also has fridge and a microwave. But the best part is you are right accross the street. We have stayed there many times and never had a problem. The rooms are clean and reasonably priced. We will be staying there Dec. 11th through Dec 16th.

Wndrlandcat, glad to hear your positive review of ADI&S! :cool1: We needed either a suite or connecting rooms and wound up with ADI&S for 4 adults and 1 kid. I strongly encourage someplace with TWO bathrooms!

See you at ADI&S the end of the week you're there, Wndrlandcat--we check in Tuesday Dec 13 and out Saturday the 17th!

LOCATION!!! LOCATION!!! LOCATION!!!! Location was everything to us on this visit. We had 2 little ones- 11 total in our group. We stayed at the Desert Inn across from DL. The location was awesome. The rooms were decent-nothing fancy but nice. We did have a few little problems with the hotel service but the location was wonderful. I would try the Best Western Park Place next time. It was about 10 steps closer to the light then we were. And the cont. breakfast was not that good. We had a fridge so we went to a store and bought some breakfast food and snacks to take into the park. We also had a microwave so we bought oatmeal- for a good breakfast for the littles esp.

Marriot Residence Inn- Family/Kids suite. I have stayed in the San Diego one on hotel circle 2x and will use it again. Free full breakfast. Free evening meal selection. Like hotdogs spaghetti, pizza (from a local joint) nuggets wine, beer (for adults obviously) There will be a calendar in your sute telling you the menu for the evening meal each night.
One room has the bunk beds in one room, and a queen in the other. Then the family room has a pull out couch. I have actually napped on the pull out and it was comfortable. Nice size kitchen and eating area. 3 tvs-on in each in room and 1 in the family room.
Housekeeping cleans the ktichen for you too! It is large about 650 square feet. room for everyone!
