Coming in from the States on the 23rd of November, and planning on staying on Disney property through Wednesday the 26th. I am completely at a loss on which way to go with hotels. We will likely only go to the parks for two full days, and possibly a small portion of the other 2 days (due to wanting to see the sites in Paris, etc.)

If you had a choice between Sante Fe and Hotel Cheyenne, which would you choose and why? What about between Sequoia and New Port? Also, do you think its worth the bump in price to stay at Sequoia / New Port versus Sante Fe / Hotel Cheyenne, and why?

The last time I was in Paris, it was mid December and bitterly cold. Will it be similar in late November? Does this have any effect on which hotel you would choose (i.e. walking distance to the parks, in room heating, etc.)

Thanks!!

Never stayed in the Santa Fe but I love the theme of the Cheyenne. A friend of mine stayed here than at the Sequoia and said it wasn't worth the extra money. If your going to splash out I LOVED Hotel New York. It was so clean comfy, excellent service and a 30 second walk to the village.

November can be hit and miss like it can here in the UK.The first time we went late November it wasn't very cold but the second time we went it was so cold the kids were crying and we had to go back to the hotel to warm up. Last year we went over new years eve and it wasn't very cold then either but did rain quite a lot 2 of the days.

Between Sf and cheyenne we much prefer the Cheyenne as we love the theming there. The main difference though is that the SF has 2 double beds and Cheyenne as 1 double plus a bunk. So this may make a difference to you.

We LOVE the SL and absolutely is worth the extra money in my opinion. Much nicer, bigger, cosier rooms, breakfast tastier and much calmer. The lounge there with the big open fire is gorgeous - especially in winter :goodvibes:goodvibes and if the park is too cold for you and you want a break there is a pool too. I would go for SL :)

I too love the Cheyenne because of the bunk beds and theme, BUT IMO it's desperately in need of renovation (were there Dec '13). Santa Fe has a Cars theme and has recently been renovated! I'm going there this October to try it. Not looking forward to the mad breakfasts though!

Stayed in the Sequoia Lodge in March - the rooms ARE bigger and the breakfasts are calmer, and it's slightly closer to the parks....but other than that...I'm sure it's beautiful for the Christmas theme. And it's been recently re-furbished!

New York I'd love to try as we were lucky enough to have breakfast in there one morning in March and it was nice to have hot items along with the usual fare. And it's VERY close to Disney Village (closest out of all the hotels other than the main Disneyland Hotel itself obviously!).

We stayed at the Santa Fe hotel last July. It's a budget hotel but it's is very clean and the room was ok. It has been refurbished and everything is new and clean and the cast members were very nice and friendly at any time. The only minuses are that it does not have an air conditioning unit (only a fan) and there is no pool but anyways we spent all day and until late in the evening in the parks. Oh and since you are going during winter time, yes there is a heater in the room.

Breakfast time can be a little busy but not more than a 5' queue and if you go like early in the morning so you can benefit from the extra magic hours it is quiet. The breakfast consisted mainly of cold food (cheese, ham etc) and very fresh croissants and buns. Lots of nutella, different kinds of cereal and milk and plenty of filtered coffee and juices. Not very luxurious but it was enough for us to charge our batteries and head to the parks.

In my opinion it is best to stay in a budget hotel and do the character meals instead where you can meet mickey the other characters, unless of course you have the luxury to pay for both. Disneyland hotel is by far the best and the one closest to the parks and village, but I find it very expensive. That doesn't stop me from dreaming that one day I might be able to stay for a few days there though :)

Having been to all those hotels mentioned I would go for the Sequoia Lodge for a Christmas trip. The hotels looks fantastic at Christmas time and there is nothing like ending your days in the parks, stitting next to that huge fire place in the Redwood Lounge with a nice relaxing drink to end your day.

I would avoid the NPBC as it is still under refurbishment at the moment.

I prefer the Santa Fe over the Cheyenne as it has recently been refurbished, but the Cheyenne is DWs favouriate hotel due to the cowboy town theming, and we are staying there again in October.

At the end of the day, a room is a room. How long are you going to be staying in it? We had a lovely suite in Hotel New York in January and we used the room for about 8 hours day - to sleep. But I did enjoy the cooked breakfast at HNY which is also availble in the Sequoia Lodge for a little extra as it sets you up for the long winter day ahead.

We have stayed in the Santa Fe the Cheyenne the SL and the HNY.
If it was me for a winter trip I would pick the SL every time the smell of the fire is perfect after a cold day in the parks.

Thank you everyone for your input! And please, keep the opinions coming...

I think I will look a little into the Sequoia Lodge, you all swayed me with the fireplace in winter. Coming from Florida, a fireplace is a luxury!!

Of course depending on our budget and the pricing in November, I may have to go with either Santa Fe or Cheyenne, so again, please keep the opinions coming!!

The Cheyenne theming is great so defo consider there.
If doing the cowboy theme you should go to buffalo bills Wild West show.

We been to WDW once we had a great time :goodvibes

I Would avoid the santa Fe- although the rooms are nice after the refurb, the whole complex looks sparse and barren. There is a neglected volcano and some odd concrete thing which I could not work out what it was sitting there looking nasty!

The Cheyanne is opposite the Santa Fe and I think has the best themeing of all the hotels, I've not stayed in the rooms though but I believe they only have a double and 2 bunk beds.

The Sequioa though is my fave, on winter nights the bar area is the best, with the open fire and all the wood. Though there is nothing stopping at any of the hotels and enjoying the hotels facilities. They are all a short walk from each other.

There is a neglected volcano and some odd concrete thing which I could not work out what it was sitting there looking nasty!.

The concrete thing is a rattlesnake and the Cheyanne does have a few standard double rooms, but I have to agree, there is nothing stoping you from staying in one of the cheaper hotels and visiting the others. We do this all the time.

Ok, next question... does anyone know when the booking for the US site will open for the end of November? I have going on the site at least once a week for the last two weeks, but I still cannot search / book a room for the end of November. Also, when I change the dates slightly to the beginning of November just to get an idea of the prices, I am coming up with a difference of over $700 US dollars versus the UK site for the Sequoia Lodge.

It is my understanding that I can book on the UK site, correct? Do I have to have a UK address?

Hi you can book on any country's offer so have a good look to see if the free meal plan is on or 2 nights free etc.
You can also ring the park direct
00 33 1 60 30 60 53 I know this will cost you a lot though.

Am not sure if you stay on property in the US, if so the Cheyenne and SF tho lovely may seem a bit of a let down, especially with things like the scrum in the morning.

If you stayed at SL or HNY you'd also be closer to the station for going into Paris (not that anywhere is very far)

You can definitely book the UK deal - and is likely to be cheaper than US!

Have stayed in the hotels you mentioned with the exception of the Newport, as others have said try to avoid this one as its undergoing it major renovation, although they are doing it in blocks so you shouldn't be near the work.

The Santa Fe is the one most recently been renovated, I like the theming but don't like the bar. The Cheyenne has also got cool themeing in that it is a Wild West set

As some have said if the budget can afford try to go for the Sequoia Lodge, its one of my favourites and has a fab bar with the open fire. Plus there is a pool too.

You can book under any countries deal, if booking online just leave the country as the country you are booking under (everything is emailed to you) Just a tip inform you bank/credit card before you book so they don't block the transaction

We stayed at SL in Nov 2013, around the same time (Thanksgiving weekend). Loved the fireplace and used the pool, too. I liked the hotel--very warm and inviting, they had characters in the lobby for meet and greets in the morning and evening.
Cold weather--definitely layers for wind/rain needed. Florida native here, too, so I enjoyed the cozy fire and chill in the air!
I was most amazed at how compact the two parks felt compared to WDW and DL.
SL was plenty close to the Village, an easy walk, and next to the Hotel New York, where they have a synthetic "ice" rink (a la Rockefeller Center). My son loved doing this on the way back from the parks at night.
Train ride is about 45 minutes or so to Paris from the park entrance. Easy.
Enjoy! I can't wait to go again!
