I have been looking on the Virgin site and quite fancy this hotel as it has kids suites and plenty for them to do as we don't intend doing much in the way of parks-just using up the unused days from our trip next Jan
We were thinking of going next October to take advantage of all the savings.
Has anyone ever stay at The Nikki Bird?
Any opinions, good or bad would really help to make our minds up.
Thanx
Lin

We have booked a kid-suite at the Nikki Bird Hotel for April 2004. Although we have not received any recommendations from friends, we saw in the Virgin brochure that it had been updated to a flagship hotel and that swung the decision for us. There was a thread on the Orlando Hotels board a few months ago where a lady asked if anyone knew anything about it and the person replying really slated it. I was really panicking then because we had already paid our deposit !!! but then a whole stream of people replied with positive comments. Basically, they said the hotel is clean and comfortable (although rather dated from the outside), the pools are clean and lovely to swim in, the staff were really friendly and helpful and although the restaurant usually had longish queues the food was very good. This put my mind at rest because we only want somewhere to sleep and so long as it is clean and comfortable and we can have a relaxing swim on our days off from the theme parks we will be happy. I expect the room will be quite basic but as we normally only holiday at holiday camps in the UK (this will be the first time my kids who will be 11, 9 and 7 will have flown) it will probably seem very luxurious to us!!!

Hope this has been of help to you.

Hi Lin, we stayed at this resort WAY back in '94 before it became the Nikki Bird and since then it had a comlete renovation. It is well located for WDW.

This hotel was also featured in one of the Holiday programmes.

Here are some earlier threads and you will see a mix of opinion - if you put Nikki Bird into the Search, you'll find lots more.

Here's one and here's another.

We stayed there in Summer 98'.It was easy to find and a decent place to stay. The first time we ate at the restaurant we didn't tip the staff, from then on we were served last, and four out of the seven of us got tummy bugs.Sorry it's negative ,but it was our experiance.Just further down the road was the Diplomat,we liked this one a lot, although,it's changed it's name since, the kid's suites were fab,the adult's bed was gi-normous, and they had an indoor pool.
