I am pondering a trip in October to take my parents who are celebrating their 40th wedding anniversary. They have never been to a Disney park, I, their only child am Disney obsessed!! I wanted to do something I think they would like for their anniversary, but at the same time is me (they are doing a 2 week European/ Africa cruise for their anniversary!) So as I would be paying for everything I need to look at costs. I was wondering how the Sequoia lodge (I would book 2 lake views) is as apposed to the New York (we usually stay here, standard view - usually a view of the ice rink, but not the lake.)
So I guess my question is how does the qullity of the SL compare to the HTY? I am willing to pay more, but was just wondering on the quality of the room (I know the SL does not do the hot breakfast items which the HY does and the SL is a little further walk.)
Thanks for any advice.

I've never stayed in the Hotel New York, but I recently stayed at the Sequoia Lodge and I can honestly say we couldn't have asked for anything more. The lake view is lovely and you can see the Disney Village... We found the breakfast selection to be excellent even though there weren't cooked options... There were lots of different cured meats and things like that.... :goodvibes

Sorry I can't be more help!

Thanks. My dad is diabetic so I am intrested in the type of food. I am however interested in the quality of the room at the Sl V NY (I admit I am a bit of a room snob!!) My last trip to the NY (last week) was acceptable but not what I would call 4*. If the SL rooms were the same standard I would be happy with that for a 3*.

Well, we didn't have a standard room (Not bragging, honest!) so I can't comment, but the view was breathtaking from the top floor!

From what I remember, based on standard rooms at both hotels, the HNY rooms definitely felt a little more plush to me than the ones at SL, where the decor is plainer. Both have the same amenities, apart from no room service at SL. But, if it's of interest, I prefer the bar and lounge area at SL, over the HNY's!!

Also, if you just booked standard view at the HNY, you wouldn't get a view of an ice rink in October - more likely of a go-kart track.

If Money is out of the question I would go for HNY as it has almost the same kind of service as the DLH. The breakfast is much better. (You have hot options for free, you get cheese in slides and not in cubes. :lmao: )
The rooms are also bigger and better, and the hotel is more "adult".
But if your parents prefer the nature and would love to stay at a national park than I would choose the SL. But this hotel is more standard and much more "simple" than HNY.

I agree with this SL is nice but i think HNY will be better , i have only stayed at SL but hope to stay at HNY next time- but i guess its up to what theme you think your parents would perfer.

Having stayed at both I think for me HNY has the edge, the rooms seem more spacious as does the bathroom. Don't get me wrong I like both but I would stay in HNY if I could afford it each time. Although I think the bar & shop is better in SL, nothing is stopping you from staying at HNY and using the bar at SL if you wish.
