Hotel Near Old Key West

I need a hotel room for the saturday night, before I check into OKW ON SUNDAY,
any recommendaitons??

Do you want another hotel on Disney property or off? The closest on are POR and any of the hotels at DTD are pretty close. Off, I don't know about.

We got one night at Lake Buena Vista through priceline or hotwire last trip. I think we ended up initially with the Sheraton and later were changed to Summerfield suites. We enjoyed the property immensely for the price and amenties provided.

I stay at the Hilton almost every trip to OKW on Saturdays. It is right across the street from DD. The first hotel-resort on the corner. It has two pools, great restaurants, exercise room, shops and much more. You can get a room there for under $200 also, if price is a concern. I highly recommend it. Another feature the Hilton has is different check out times for a price. They come in handy when OKW is not going to give you the room until late in the day on Sunday. I used this feature a couple of times, it really is great that way you are not stuck without a room on Sunday check-in day at OKW. It is just around the block from OKW, about 1 mile away or less, my guess.

I got the Hilton for $70/nt on Priceline, if you'd like to try that route.

Kansas--bbowers has a room for excellent price-I think the lowest I ever paid there was about $135. I highly recommend it.

We stayed at the Hotel Royal Plaza on Saturday night, June 14. It is one of the official Disney hotels next to DTD. We paid $59 a night through a code on the mousesavers website. Of course, we had to pay tax and a $7 occupancy fee on top of that. The hotel was fine for us....and we enjoyed having the two beds plus a sofa sleeper there....no fighting between my kids about sleeping together!!

We got a good price on a room at POR in November. This worked great for us because they drove us over to the BCV in a van with all of our stuff. We were planning to have our stuff moved and we were going to take the bus to MGM and ride the boat to BC to check in. We were happily surprised when they told us they would just drive us over!!!!

Terribelle, did the front desk tell you they would drive you over. We stayed at POR in May 2002 and had to take a taxi to OKW. We asked POR if they had any service that could take us to OKW and were told no. We checked at the front desk and where you request a taxi out in front.

The front desk did not tell us they would drive us. They told us that they would move our bags for us and that we could use disney trans. to get to the BC. This was what we were expecting.

In the morning we called to have our bags moved and a really nice CM arrived with a HUGE cart. We had 2 rooms (5 adults, 3 kids). My mom and the boys decided to ride in the "stretch limo cart" since the walk to the front desk was LONG. During the ride my mom chatted with the driver and she told him that we were moving over to the BCV. She asked if he knew when our stuff would get there. He offered to call a disney van for us so that we could ride with all of our stuff.

I have no idea why he offered this! Maybe they were not busy, maybe we got lucky, maybe we were a large group - I don't know. It was one of those unexpected treats!

We will not expect to get this lucky again. We did find that the CMs at POR were really nice and helpful!

We booked a RED ROOF INN room for 1 night in Jan. for $35.95. It is in Kissimmee adjacent to RT 585 (?) that will take you near the OKW area

That sounds great. Glad to hear you rode with your stuff and the extra special service from Disney. We took our own stuff because the day before there was someone who had checked out the previous night who still did not receive their bags from POR. It got us worred. I hope that family found their bags.

I got 2 rooms through Priceline.com for $40 each at the Hyatt on 192 in Kissimee. Flight arrives at 11 PM so I didn't want to waste the points since we won't get to the hotel until after midnight!!
