We're leaving around 4pm the day before our WDW arrival day and would like to drive for 7-8 hours and stay overnight somewhere. We'll be coming from North Carolina.

Does anyone know of a good place to stop where we will only be around 3-4 hours from WDW the next day? Our family does better when we can get some sleep, so staying over somewhere vs. driving all day works better for us. Our final destination is Fort Wilderness.

You have several choices, but, I don't have any personal experiences with the motels.

Are you coming down I-95 or I-75?

On 75, about your only choice is Valdosta. Look in that area.

I-95 leaves you a number of choices. You could stay here in Savannah. We have all the majors hotels here in town and all the standard motels out on I-95 at Pt Wentworth, Pooler, and the Gateway at 204 (I recommend the Windgate at 204 if you are looking for a nicer place).

You could keep going to Brunswick and again find the standards. Its about 70 miles further into Georgia.

Your last choice is Kingston. Again all the standards are here. You will find about the cheapest gas on I-95 here. There is a Wal-mary about 3 miles east of I-95 here that is even cheaper if you have a Wal-mart gift card.

North Fla leaves you Yulee, Fernandina Beach and Jacksonville. But they will add another hour to your drive. Of course it will cut an hour off the drive the next day.

We like driving to St. Augustine and spending the night before going on to WDW. It's kinda silly for us to do as we are only 5.5 hours to WDW, but, sometimes we need the extra time away.

My family drove to Orlando from the D.C. area, and we stayed overnight at the Country Inn & Suites in Brunswick, GA -- a little less than four hours from Disney World.

I was happy with the hotel, which says something, because I'm pretty picky about cleanliness. The facility seemed fairly new. Amenities included an indoor pool, an exercise room, a mini refrigerator in the room, and free breakfast. We arrived late, but the parking lot was well lit, which was nice.

Holiday Inn Brunswick...there are 2 I believe we were the first exit off 95 and really enjoyed the hotel and it had a great steakhouse in the hotel:goodvibes

I can help. I live in Brunswick. There are several choices if you take I95 and take exit 37A or B. There are several places to eat also. We are exactly 3.5 hours from WDW.

There is also a brand new Holiday Inn on exit 38. It has a Mill House Steak House inside of it. I forgot to mention that in the above post. If I had to choose I would stay off exit 38.
