We will be sailing on the May 17, 2017 cruise from San Diego to Vancouver. We will be flying in to San Diego the day before and I was looking for a hotel close to the port. Any recommendations? Thank you

For our EBPC we stayed at the Wyndham Bayside. It's about a block away from the port. We got it for a decent price, I think under $180 a night, but I think others got a slightly better deal.

They also have a free shuttle to the airport, the zoo, and to Sea Port village.

We've sailed out of San Diego twice and definitely recommend the Wyndham Bayside. Its not even a 5 minute walk across the street. We just did the San Diego to Vancouver last month. Amazing cruise! You will have a blast! It's definitely a cooler climate, so pack accordingly. I only packed 1 sweatshirt for everyone...oops. Here's my mom & grandma on their balcony. You can see the crosswalk just over my grandma's shoulder and the terminal is that aqua colored building.untitled-2550.jpg untitled-2550.jpg untitled-2550.jpg

Would love to hear more about your trip! We are thinking of booking the San Diego to Vancouver trip in May this year.

I am a little worried about some people saying the seas were super rough and that the Wonder wasn't great as well as service being slow.

We are hoping for a little warm weather, but are from Alaska- so warm is relative. I see people keep saying the cruise is cold, but do you have a temp range? Some people's cold may not feel cold to us! LOL! Are the pools still open for the kids? Thanks!

To piggy back on @SuperGator6 I would also love to know what you thought about this cruise as we would like to book it for May 2018 when the dates are released in a few weeks. We are from Vancouver so I know what the weather is like here, just wondering what else we should pack for the San Diego/San Fran portion of the trip for that time of year.

Thanks for the hotel rec, looks like it's very close :)

There is also a new Residence Inn and a Springhill Suites that are .3 miles (6 mins) walk to the port.

We stay at the Hampton Inn San Diego Downtown. We walked to the port with our luggage in 5 minutes. It was comfy, clean, and has a great free breakfast. For pictures, check out my EBPC trip report (Who Needs Toes Anyway? A 2016 EBPC Trip Report).

Another vote the Wyndham. I think the photo above says it all. The Grant Hyatt or Embassy Suites are also walkable if you were just rolling one suitcase each. If you had lots of luggage, you might choose a one minute cab ride. I've won both of the latter on Priceline wins.

For another picture - see the roundish building in the center left? To the left of that - the tall building with the blue side on it and the shorter one in front of it with the blue side are the Wyndham. I think the building right in the center (with the elevator shaft) is part of it, also. The crosswalk is at the center right of the photo:
